Never have I ever made cakes this good before! I am not much of a baker but when I have a need for cake, I try to put some real effort into it.
We had a joined birthday party and I started baking a week prior so I had a lot of time to do all the components and finish the cakes easily on the day of the party.
I am bad at documenting all the steps of baking a cake because it can be quite stressful at times, but I managed a few snaps here and there. Not going to lie, I was thinking of why am I subjecting myself to this kind of torture but the end results were well worth it!
For those who care, the chocolate cake recipe is from this video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Oz3jorq9QKY&pp=ygUgdGhlIG9ubHkgY2hvY29sYXRlIGNha2UgeW91IG5lZWQ%3D
And the yellow one:

modified by adding cream cheese and lemon zest!)
Three layer chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream was pretty straight forward and it turned out amazing, rich and not overly sweet. 10/10 would recommend, also freezes well so that’s great.
The mousse cake on the other hand was quite difficult with so many steps that require specision and lots of waiting im between when the layers set in the freezer.
It was 11pm on a Friday night when I poured over the mirrow glaze that can make or brake the whole look of the cake. Mine was a success, I am happy to report!
After the glaze I also made a white chocolate rim for the cake and nearly lost my marbles but it turned out gorgeous in the end!
I will definitely be using these recipes in the future too!
Now I’m going to go enjoy the cake leftovers, which I have plenty of since I made two big cakes for 10 people xD
ps. There is a reason why good cakes cost a lot of money, the ingredients are expensive and it takes a lot of time and skill to execute well.
