I’m Back Beer Saturday

in #beersaturday2 months ago

It feels like it’s been forever since I did a beer Saturday post. It’s the community that I started writing for way back in the steam days. However, I fallen off recently, which I want to change that. I will say I’ve not been completely absent from the community as I do like going through and reading everybody’s post and try to up vote and repost to keep growing this community.

In celebration of beer Saturday, I broke out one of the big guns 2024 wizard burial ground by brewery Vivant. This is somewhat of a unicorn beer in Michigan as it’s hard to find a due to its limited release and it carries a pretty hefty price tag. However, the search and the price is worth it. It’s one of my favorite beers.

This is a bourbon barrel age quadruple ale. I love this beer due to its malt, boozy sweetness. It’s not for the quaint of heart as it does have a lot of flavor. They actually suggest pairing it with some pretty funky foods because of its strong nature.

As you can see it pours a beautiful malt color with minimal head.

The nose is boozy and malt forward. For how complex this beer is I actually think the nose hides that complexity.

That complex flavor is sweet, boozy, malty and has subtle vanilla notes. I’m sad that I drink this beer so fast because I just wanna enjoy it considering I usually only get one can a year I used to buy a four pack, but it’s even hard to find those nowadays as people break them up and sell them in singles.

I think this beer hold such a place in my heart because it was one of the beers that I tried when I first started drinking. I’ve got good memories of trying to find the beer and sharing it with a core group of friends. I like how beer can bring out some nostalgia. If you’re ever in Michigan or can find this beer, I highly recommend trying it.

I wish I could share this one I loved doing back in the day.

I think you've captured the essence of community and the joy of enjoying a special beer filled with the warmth of nostalgia.

Thanks I miss all the good people in this community.

I'll have to keep an eye out. It sounds like something that I would like to try at least once. I was really disappointed with Hop Slam after what I paid for it! This poured a lot lighter than I thought the color would be. I expected a really dark beer.

Hopslam is hit or miss for me. It's expensive and the quality since they got more cooperate. I think they cheapen the ingredients to make more profit.

That's too bad. I really should have known it was going to be a miss for me since I don't really care for IPA's, but I wanted to see what all the hype was about.

That's the king of IPAs if you ask me!

A very nice review about the beer,

Thanks

Oh that looks great! I use to get the Full Sail bourbon barrel aged beer they would release every February. So good. It would switch each year between a porter and an imperial stout. Once the brewery got bought out I stopped buying, not even sure they still do it.
