I missed a couple weeks due to summer weekend adventures but am back home for week 471 to show off some beers along the way.

The Pint of the Week is generally a couple on a patio or local pub, shared with friends in a social setting as bee is meant to be enjoyed. In the summer, it gets even better when you are outdoors basking in the nice weather as well!

In pure summer fashion, these were enjoyed at a yacht club on Lake Ontario after a day of racing sailboats in a weekend long regatta. Getting back on land after wrestling with ropes and balance while racing sure leaves you thirsty. Even better, I discovered a very local beer from Old Credit Brewing on tap!

Cheers to Sailing!

More Summer Beers!

Speaking of sailing, sometimes, you get to enjoy a beer between races while in a regatta. Not exactly legal to be drinking on the open water on a boat but sailing almost = beer so we are sneakky about it.

Tis one is a classic Mad Tom IPA from Muskoka Brewing. One of the original IPAs from this region and partially responsible for my slide into IPA obsession. Still robustly west coast (while east coast IPAs are all the rage) and packs a nice bitter punch to fuel you fore the next race. I should add a post about the regatta adventure to my backlog!

Fixed Gear Brewing

Another classic summer time activity is baseball. While I have been to a game in person already this year, sometimes you just wanna tuck into the couch in front of a game and enjoy one of your own beers that doesn't cost $15 like it does in the stadium!

I am only getting into Fixed Gear Brewing in the last while because of that fantastic new local bottle shop with all the best craft beer available for take out. It has also been a while since my last Milkshake IPA so I hat to bust this one out during the game. Very light at only 5.1% ABV but I was pleased with the subtle lactose sugar addition and the nice balanced taste while miklkshakes tend to be overly sweet and strong. Good baseball beverage!

Breakaway IPA!

It takes more than a beer to get through a full game. Good thing the bottle shop had more than one Fixed Gear brew and I folowed up with a Fixed Gear Breakaway IPA! This one was more up my alley as described "Juicy and hazy with intense fruity notes of mango, pineapple and peach." Much lighter than my preferred ABV at 5.5% but citrussy and tropical enough to be flavourful and a nice haze to it as well.

I gotta deign the coveted seal of approval to Fixed Gear as another neat regional brewery and a couple strong baseball beverages.
