Your benevolent blockchain #Beerologist is back again this week for #beersaturday. You are always invited to leave a huge upvote and join our friend @detlev to create your own post with the gang! So glad to have found a home with beer drinkers across the world on my favourite blockchain.

For week 413, I decided to venture to the store and see what's new on the shelves. Brewing our own beer, I don't buy too much unless it is to discover new beers for the blog and find new tastes we can brew into our next batches.

Another benefit to weather warming up in spring is being able to take the PotW outdoors! We did just that this Friday after a round of golf (you can read about here at Black Swan Brewing across the street from our office. The neat thing about these pints is they are of their core IPA but is being served on nitro. For the uninitiated, that means it is being pushed from the keg with beer gas which contains nitrogen. Makes for much smaller bubbles and a flatter/creamier texture you will know from Guinness. Pretty neat!

Lost Craft Supernatural

I have enjoyed Lost Craft beer one time before and remember really liking it. They are from the big city and boast they are the first BIPOC owned craft brewery in our big province. Seems hard to believe but makes sense for them to be in a multicultural city like Toronto. I wish their branding was a little stronger than the subtle LC and you have to read the fine print to even discover which brewery you can credit for the beer but they aren't clients of mine!

Supernatural IPA itself looked a touch light at 6%ABV and poured a little yellower than I prefer so I wasn't expecting much. Turns out, they use the same 2-row grains as we do and a combination of the same hops to make it crisp and fruity, almost like carbonated tangerine juice. Not light enough for a session ale as a few 6 percenters make for a short or messy session but damn tasty and went down nicely with the smoothness of the wheat and oats. Will buy again!

Four Fathers - IV IPA

IMG_5441 (1).JPG

Another brewery not too far away that we have visited recently is Four Fathers Brewing Their beer is solid and I wouldn't rank them in my top 10 but they definitely have a damn fine taproom. So, I pick up new beers they release every time for a sample.

IV IPA sure has a goofy ass label on it. Random and weird like a bad high school art project with little to do with the actual product. The beer itself was not half bad! Hazy and fruity like an East Coast IPA but a thread of bitterness that balanced it out nicely. All of these hazy IPAs have wheat in them but this one mentions unnamed hops from America, France, Germany, The UK and New Zealand which might account for its unique taste. Another good beer 4 Fathers!

It's exactly like that, the last day of the week, which is a holiday, should be enjoyed with friends in the same way. It is very important for relaxation of the mind.

True. And a Beer is the perfect companion beverage for that.
