One thing I realized very recently is that it is more painful to 'fall from a height' than to slowly reach the bottom and stay there for a while.
To slowly reach the bottom does not hurt so much, because it was some kind of consistent and regular process, it can be traced and studied, even if the reasons for this situation cannot be explained.
When you've hit rock bottom, there's nowhere to go. You will stay there for a while, you will think, you will wonder, you will suffer for a while, then you will pick yourself up and get up.
But 'falling from a height' is something else. Often this fall is so fast and so unexpected that there is no time to think, no time to realize and accept. This can lead to an absolute impossibility for a person to get up afterwards.

Soul's Detour is a project started by me years ago when I had a blog about historical and not so popular tourist destinations in Eastern Belgium, West Germany and Luxembourg. Nowadays, this blog no longer exists, but I'm still here - passionate about architecture, art and mysteries and eager to share my discoveries and point of view with you. |
