A Cheesy Jalapeno Kind of #BurgerSaturday

in #burgersaturday3 hours ago

It’s #BurgerSaturday again and honestly, this little ritual has become one of my favorite parts of the week. There are many reasons to love Saturdays, but let’s be real, burger time is definitely at the top of the list LOL. Ever since I started this mini “initiative” for myself, my Saturdays feel a bit more special because I know there’s a tasty burger waiting somewhere out there for me.

For the past months I’ve been exploring different burger shops, fancier buns, gourmet patties, interesting toppings, so much that I almost forgot about my old reliable, McDonald’s. For many years, McDonald’s has been my top choice when it comes to fast-food burgers. If they had a loyalty card, I’m pretty sure I would have hit some crazy elite tier by now haha.

Of course, I know fast food is not something we should have regularly. Most of the time I try to support places that put in extra effort to make food a bit healthier or at least more balanced. But tonight was not one of those “healthy mindset” moments. I just wanted a comforting, no-thinking-needed burger meal. Diet thoughts: temporarily switched off.

Why Saturday though? Technically I can eat a burger any day, but Saturday feels like the right time to celebrate surviving another week. It’s the weekend, so it feels fair to reward myself with something fun and indulgent. I also tell myself I can try to burn the extra calories on Sunday, so that makes it sound more reasonable in my head LOL. In a way, it has become a discipline: keep the heavy, high-fat treats mostly to Saturday, then use the rest of the week to eat lighter and reset. That balance works for me.

So why McDonald’s this round? Because their ad for the new Cheesy Jalapeno Burger kept popping up in front of me. I went for the Quarter Pounder version instead of the double, baby steps, right? I got it as a meal with fries and an ice cream, and for my drink I somehow ended up choosing a hot Milo. A burger, fries, jalapeno cheese sauce and… hot Milo. Even I don’t fully understand that decision but I’m avoiding coffee lately, so cocoa felt like the safer choice.

The fries were classic McDonald’s fries, crispy edges, soft inside, salty and familiar. No surprises there, just pure comfort. The star, of course, was the Cheesy Jalapeno burger. I really liked how it looked when I opened the box: a neat sesame bun, cheese oozing dramatically from the side, and a good-sized beef patty inside. The bun actually looks nicer than some of their regular burgers, which already gives it bonus points.

Flavor-wise, the jalapeno sauce is very gentle. It has that jalapeno aroma but the spiciness is toned down a lot, which actually fits my palate well. The whole burger is rich and very cheesy, almost to the point of being heavy, but in a satisfying way. A few bites in, I started dipping into chilli sauce to cut through all that richness, and that made each bite even better.

Is it a gourmet burger? Of course not. But as a fast-food treat on a chill Saturday night, it really hit the spot. I genuinely enjoyed it and I can see myself coming back for another round. And who knows, maybe next time I’ll be brave enough to try the double Quarter Pounder version LOL.

For now, I’m just happy that #BurgerSaturday brought me back to an old classic. Sometimes the best weekend treat is not something new or fancy, but something familiar, cheesy, and a little bit messy.

Have you ever tried jalapenos in a bacon roll before, I tripped over this idea in Edinburgh once in a fast food place. Bread roll, touch of tomato sauce, jalapenos and some thick cut smoked bacon, served hot. In my honest opinion is awesome! :)
