Hello Clean Planet Community,
Happy weekend
The University of Nigeria is a place filled with history, knowledge, and vibrant student life. However, since this is the break period, the campus felt much quieter today as I walked through some of its well-known streets. The usual crowds of students rushing to classes, discussing ideas, and gathering in different spots were missing. Instead, the peaceful environment allowed me to take in the beauty of the campus in a different way.
I started my walk from Roar Hub, the university’s innovation center. Normally, this place is buzzing with tech-savvy students working on projects and startups. But today, it was calm, with only a few staff members around. As I walked past, I noticed some wrappers and plastic bottles on the ground, so I took out my yellow bag and began picking them up.
Next, I made my way to the Faculty of Arts Lecture Hall. With students on break, the halls were empty, and the usual energy of discussions and lectures was absent. The quietness made the surroundings feel vast, yet it was a great moment to reflect on how vibrant this place becomes when school is in session. I spotted a few scattered papers and empty snack packs on the ground and added them to my bag.
From there, I strolled toward Home Pride, a popular spot where students normally enjoy meals and hang out. Without students around, the area felt almost deserted. A few staff members were seen cleaning, and I joined in by picking up any visible trash along the way.
Finally, I reached the Music Department, where the usual sounds of instruments and voices were missing. The silence was unusual for a place that is often filled with melodies and rehearsals. I walked through the area, making sure to pick up any litter I found, even though there wasn’t much today.
Even with the students away, keeping the university environment clean is still important. Walking through the quiet streets, I realized that a clean campus makes a difference, whether crowded or empty. After collecting the garbage, I made sure to dispose of it properly in the designated waste area.
This experience reminded me that every effort counts when it comes to keeping our environment clean. I hope that when students return, they find their campus just as beautiful, if not more, than when they left.
Let’s all take responsibility for our surroundings and ensure that every space we occupy remains clean and welcoming.
Thank you… Thank you…
