A Late-Night Fried Fish Dinner at Al Sana Restaurant

in #food7 hours ago

One thing I really appreciate about living in the city is that there is almost always somewhere to eat, even when most people are already getting ready for bed. Earlier in my snaps, I mentioned how grateful I am for 24-hour establishments because they make city living much more exciting, especially for a night owl like me LOL.

Of course, city life has its downsides. It can be crowded and busy, but ironically, that same crowd is probably one of the reasons why restaurants can afford to stay open around the clock. It is good business for them, and at the same time, it gives people like me who enjoy being active at night somewhere to go. Everybody wins hahaha!

Tonight, right after my night cycling session, I was already feeling tired and hungry. My first thought was to visit a fast-food restaurant because it would be quick and convenient. But then I thought, eating very late at night is already not the best habit, so adding fast food into the equation probably wasn't going to make things any better.

That's when I decided to stop by Al Sana Restaurant instead.

I have eaten here before, so I already know that they have plenty of freshly prepared dishes to choose from. The restaurant was still lively when I arrived, with quite a number of people having their late-night meals. This is exactly the kind of atmosphere that makes me appreciate 24-hour restaurants even more.

For tonight's dinner, I ordered one of my favorites from their menu—the Fried Fish Set Meal.

The meal was served on a banana leaf with rice, a whole fried fish, sautéed ladyfinger, papadum, curry, and a complimentary bowl of soup. Just looking at the whole plate already made me feel like I made a much better decision than going for fast food LOL.

The fish they served today looked like red snapper. It had a nicely fried exterior while the meat inside was still flaky and enjoyable. I especially like eating the fish together with a little curry and rice because it adds another layer of flavor.

Their curry is the reddish type and has quite a spicy kick. Since my spice tolerance isn't very high, I only drizzled a small amount onto my rice. That was enough for me to enjoy its rich flavor without overwhelming everything else on the plate.

Another thing I really enjoyed was the complimentary soup. It had a tangy flavor that worked surprisingly well with the fried fish. Whenever the fishiness started becoming noticeable, a sip of the soup refreshed my palate and made the next bite enjoyable again.

The sautéed ladyfinger was also a welcome side dish. I always enjoy having vegetables with a heavy meal because it gives the plate a little more balance, both in flavor and texture.

And of course, I couldn't finish a late-night meal like this without something refreshing to drink, so I ordered an iced tea with milk. Cold, sweet, creamy, and filled with ice—it was exactly what I wanted after cycling around in Singapore's humid night air.

Overall, this was another satisfying visit to Al Sana Restaurant. Nights like this remind me why I appreciate having 24-hour food establishments around the city. Instead of automatically settling for fast food after a tiring night ride, I can still sit down and enjoy a proper freshly prepared meal.

A whole fried fish, curry, vegetables, rice, soup, and an ice-cold milk tea after cycling?

That's my kind of late-night reward.

Bon appétit!

You've been curated 🌷

Its awesome that they are open even at night. For a big city this is really helpful, especially for sure in the night shift. Here in our small town, once 5 or 6pm hit the clock, shop owner would be all ready to close down. Anyways the food looks appetizing. Though they are fries but with the soup, they can go down easily and seriously I love anything fried though I avoid them as much now. 🫠

Awesome blog!😍
