I’m starting to realize that most of my posts are about food… and honestly, I think I’ve stopped fighting it already. 😂 I guess I’m a food lover! I like eating out, and now I’m enjoying homecooking too, which makes the whole thing even funnier because the real challenge isn’t finding good food… it’s controlling my cravings and keeping my diet balanced.
And wow, in Singapore, balance is hard. With so many tempting options everywhere, turning down cravings feels like trying to ignore a playlist of your favorite songs. You can pretend you’re strong… but you know you’ll press play. LOL.
So today’s dinner? Indian cuisine!

There’s this restaurant I like called Al Sana, and it’s one of my go-to places when I’m craving something satisfying but not too heavy. The vibe is casual and lively, you know the type: bright lights, a big menu board showing a hundred delicious things, and that steady flow of customers that silently tells you, “Yep, people actually come back here.” I like that kind of energy. It feels comforting, like you’re in good hands even before the food arrives.
What I always get there is their fish rice set. I love fish, and this place really knows how to fry a good one. Not the “dry until you need five cups of water” kind of fried fish… but the kind that still feels juicy inside, with a confident crust outside.
When the tray came, the first thing that caught my eye was the fish itself, this bold, vibrant red piece sitting right on top of the rice like it’s posing for a photo shoot. It looked so lively and delicious, like it was saying, “Hello, I’m the main character.” And it really was.

The best part is the full combo: rice + fried fish + three bowls of goodness. You get a curry (rich and flavorful), a vegetable curry (lighter but still aromatic), and then that cooling yogurt that acts like the peacekeeper in the middle of all the spice and intensity. I love how thoughtful that feels, like the meal comes with its own “reset button.”

Flavor-wise, each bowl played a role. The curry had that deep, warm spice that spreads slowly across your tongue, not just heat, but actual flavor. The vegetable curry was comforting and earthy, and it made the meal feel more balanced. Then the yogurt… smooth, mild, and calming. Taking a spoon of it after a few bites of curry felt like giving my mouth a small hug.
And of course, there was also a crispy papadum on the side, light, airy, and crunchy. It’s such a simple thing, but it makes the whole tray more fun to eat. I like mixing bites: rice + fish, then curry, then papadum crunch, then yogurt to cool off. It’s a little routine, and I enjoy it every time.

What I love about this set is that it’s not as heavy as briyani, but it still feels complete. You get protein, curry flavor, veggies, and something cooling, so I’d say it’s a pretty healthy and balanced meal (at least compared to what my cravings usually demand 😅).

It was a satisfying dinner, no doubt. And yes… I will definitely be back soon, especially for some prata. By the way, this weekend I’m planning to go for Malay food, and now I’m excited already. My cravings are booking appointments in advance. LOL.
