Last Saturday night was burger night, so I didn’t hesitate to head to Chops & Sears in Woodlands. I swung by a friend’s place for a quick chat and snack, then made my way to the hawker centre for a proper late-night supper.
The moment I arrived, those nicely lit menu boards caught my eye. Weekends are always busy here, with dine-in orders, plus online ones rolling in from Grab and Foodpanda, so I usually come later at night to skip the long wait. Smart move, if I say so myself.
When I ordered, they asked if I preferred the chicken or the beef version. No hesitation: beef. In my world, chicken is for teriyaki, beef is for cheeseburgers. No alternatives, no debate.
On my previous visit, I asked the chef to skip the sauces and do just cheese. It was okay, but something was missing. This time, I asked for less honey mustard and less ketchup, and wow, perfect. That’s the sauce ratio for me. Nailed it.
My burger came with two free sides, so I chose my all-time favourites: French fries and buttered corn. Fries are non-negotiable with a burger, and the corn adds a little sweetness and variety. It’s a balanced combo that never fails.
Since it was already late, there were fewer people dining in, which I actually love. I’m not big on crowded spaces, I’d much rather munch in peace. Late-night quiet is an underrated perk.
And the best part? Value. For SGD 9.90, I enjoyed a satisfying meal in a cozy spot, even if it’s “just” a hawker centre. Honestly, this is comfort food in my comfort place. If that makes sense, LOL. Maybe what I’m really saying is that it was a perfect little experience, and I enjoyed it a lot.
Verdict: Chops & Sears hits that sweet spot, solid quality, fair price, and late-night calm. I’ll be back (with my custom sauce order, of course).
