Breakfast is believed to be the most important meal of the day and Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania, has a few places to guarantee that you get the most bang for your buck! I hope I didn't offend the large population of deer in that area. One of these places is Piggy's Restaurant which is located right along the lake. It was no surprise that when we walked inside there was a pig theme. This began with the Pig Pen Gift Shop which leads you into the restaurant seating area. They even sold three different sizes of that pig game where you roll plastic pigs as if they were dice. I had to buy a t-shirt and a 3D computer generated purple pig!
They serve breakfast and lunch and breakfast was on our minds. With all of the stuffed pigs looking at us, I thought it was wrong that my better half included bacon in her dish. I ordered the Sample Of Batters, which was a great way to try a Plain Buttermilk Pancake, Piggy's French Toast and Piggy's Original Batter Toast. I was told by Laura, a daughter of the original owners, that the latter sample was developed out of a mistake, quite like the chocolate chip cookie. It was hard to decide which batter I loved the most because they all brought something special to the dish. I washed everything down with a small glass of orange juice.
The placemats also brought a certain ambiance with their artwork. I noticed that some of the tables had instructions on how to draw a pig with blank paper for customers to add to their experience. Also on the property is the Hog Heaven Ice Cream Shop, which seemed to be a popular spot as we drove by after a night of dinner and libations. This is definitely a place to check out and learn about the area from the friendly staff.
