Copycat Twix Bars

in #food7 days ago

Time to learn how to make an amazing dessert. Do you like Twix candy bars? If so, you are going to love these homemade Twix bars. In my opinion, they are better than the real thing!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plus 3 Tbsp of softened butter 154g
  • 1/2 cup of white granulated sugar 100g
  • 2 cups all-purpose or cake flour 240g
  • 11 to 12 oz caramel I use kraft brand or use homemade (311g)
  • 1/2 tsp salt 2g
  • 16 to 24 oz of chocolate Candiquik, candy melts, semi-sweet, dark, milk, white chocolate chips, chocolate bars, etc. (454g, Doesn’t have to be exact)
  • 2 tbsp heavy whipping cream or whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F/176 C
  2. Blend together the butter and sugar in a food processor. Then add the salt and flour and blend that in until incorporated. It should look like damp sand when you are done.
  3. Spray 5 or 6 aluminum mini bread loaf pans with cooking spray. Then spoon and equal amount of shortbread base into each and pack it down with the back of your spoon.
  4. Bake the shortbread base in the oven, middle rack, for 15 to 18 minutes until slightly golden brown on the edges. Remove and allow them to cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  5. Add the cream or milk to a microwave-safe bowl with the caramel. Melt the caramel in a microwave with bursts of 30 seconds, then stir, repeat until melted and runny.
  6. Use a spoon to evenly pour some caramel on each shortbread base. Spread it out on top. Then place them in the fridge for about an hour.
  7. Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl like the caramel. Or use the double-boiler method on the stovetop. If using chocolate chips or bars of chocolate, add 2 to 3 tsp of vegetable oil to it.
  8. Remove the caramel shortbread bars from the bread pans and place cookie side down on a cutting board. Cut them into 6 bars.
  9. Dip each bar completely in the chocolate, using a fork or spoon to help dip it. Raise it out of the chocolate with a fork and tap the fork to allow the excess chocolate to fall off.
  10. Place the dipped Twix bars on a sheet pan or cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Allow the chocolate to set. Sometimes room temp is fine or place in the fridge for 15 to 20 mins.
  11. They are ready to eat! You can also drizzle white chocolate on the top to make them fancy. Enjoy!
