Pad Thai restaurant in Novi Sad, Serbia - About food and dates

in #foodyesterday

Welcome to Pad Thai restaurant in Novi Sad, Serbia! I am here to share some of the yummy food, cute interior design and a little bit of my story all mixed up in this post.

After visiting Thailand many years ago, for a very long time I had nowhere to get Thai food in my city... I had been dreaming about my favorite Chicken cashew nut, Thai coconut soup and noodles. When I found out there was not just one, but two Thai restaurants opening in Novi Sad, I was beyond happy! But there was a slight inconvenience... no one was interested to visit with me or I just couldn't make a proper plan with anyone due to different commitments. That's when I knew I would have to shake off the uncomfortable feeling a go on a solo date.

Now hear me out, I had no problem going on cute little coffee dates - I actually enjoyed those so much, it almost came to the point I prefer going solo rather than with someone. I would bring a book, planner, my tablet or laptop and one of those things would always keep me occupied so I'm not wondering what someone might think. But going out to the restaurant to eat alone, that was something different (at least in my head...). But my cravings for Thai food were stronger, I finally shook off that anxiety and just went for it. Luckily, I picked a time where the restaurant was quite empty, ordered my food and boy, did I enjoy it!

Here's me on my second lunch solo date in Pad Thai. This time I went for a meal that the restaurant was named after and again, had a great time! I've noticed more people who were having a meal alone, I guess it's not that unusual these days... People come for a lunch break or after work, maybe they don't have time or don't want to prepare food at home. Anyways, I was feeling a lot more comfortable and it was really a confidence builder to stop waiting for someone to spare a little bit of time and just do the things you want to do.

Fast forward to February 2025. here I am with my then boyfriend, now husband at this same place sharing food and lovely memories together. At this point we have been dating for a few months now and I mentioned Pad Thai quite a few times! Also that winter was quite busy for both of us when it came to work so we finally decided to book a table for Valentine's Day. I was a little bit worried D. won't like this type of food but to my (and his) surprise, he really enjoyed it! What a relief!

Soon after that, we went back! This time D. tried mango flavored drink which he absolutely loved! ! I tried a little bit and it's super yummy but extremely cold and for someone who's very sensitive to cold drinks during winter, I had to be patient and wait for warmer months to come. Also my favorite Thai food is still Chicken cashew nuts and D. found his favorite which is Pad Thai. I am more of a rice person and he likes Thai noodles better.

International Women's Day came around and you guessed it... To Pad Thai we go! This time D. ordered the same type of drink but Pina colada flavored and of course, I had to try this one too! Our final decision is that both are yummy but he prefers Pina colada and I prefer mango.

If you cannot tell, we are creatures of habits and usually go for what we know we like. Even though there's a variety of different foods, we were not experimenting too much which is something we might change in the future. Thing is, I cannot tolerate spicy food and I'm always worried something will be spicy even if I order the opposite. But I would love to try some soups or foods that are prepared in a different way that my usual go-to order.

Interior design

Here's a little bit of interior design which I absolutely love! The restaurant itself is not that big but it is very cozy and nicely decorated. I like all the neutral tones with a pop of color. When you enter, right across is an open kitchen concept and a small bar type of space and to the left you can see the tables/seating area. I took these pictures in those time frames when there was no people because I don't like capturing others while they are just enjoying their time and food.

I hope you enjoyed this type of post with a little bit of a personal story, not just restaurant review. Let me know in the comments your experience with solo dates and if you like Thai food as much as I do! See you soon in another post!
