Visiting European friend to Dubai wanted to have fish for lunch, Dubai is a coastal city and fish is a part of the tradition here.
I wondered for a short period then asked whether they'd go for the Iraqi Masqouf fish instead, showed them a couple of pictures from the internet and my friend said that's grilled carp, yes for sure.
I've tried it before and it was ok, I do prefer grilled or fried Hamour fillet, the local fish, but we had that a couple of days earlier so let's go for the Masqouf - Carp option.
The restaurant was not far, we were sitting in Burj Khalifa residences lobby and the Samad Iraqi Restaurant was 10 minutes far but would take about 5 minutes more for the traffic.
It took them about 40 minutes to get the fish ready, the restaurant was crowded, late lunch time, and have to say we were not impressed much about the appetizers, we were very much impressed with the 3 kg fish that was perfectly done and we barely ate half of it and we were stuffed.

.

Visiting the region? Look for this fish, you won't regret it, or for the local Hamour fish at Daniel Restaurant, thank me later.
