TGIF Yay!
This weekend I will be attending award ceremonial at a block party in town. Last year, one of the organizations that I volunteer at, I nominated them. They didn't win, but was mentioned by the city and the news. This year, I nominated another organization that I also volunteer at, and they didn't win as well, darn it, however, they will be awarded as a nominee. I didn't know that when we nominate and the nominee don't win, they would still be awarded. That's nice. I'm glad both of organizations got some kind of recognizition. Hopefully someday more people would vote for them and they would win, so more people would know and support their values and hardwork 🤩
For today's recipe, it's a nice one, from Hungary. Some would refer it as a cake, some others as a pastry, while my husband would say it's like a pie but also not a pie 🤣
300 g unsalted butter
250 g sugar
1 envelope vanilla sugar
450 g flour
1 tsp double acting BP
A pinch of salt
6 eggs
200 ml milk
1 large jar pitted red sour cherries in syrup
Drain the cherries, and set to side. You can dispose the syrup or use for other baking.
Separate yolks from whites, beat whites until stiff
Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl
On a separate bowl, cream butter and sugars, then beat in yolks
Add in flour to butter, alternating with milk, until completely combined, then fold in stiff egg whites
Spread batter on rectangular pan, and top with cherries
Bake on preheated 350 F for 50-60 minutes
Slice and enjoy 😊
