RE: Majority of Americans Think Tipping is Out of Control

in #foodlast year

The current tipping craze was driven by the credit card companies.

The new machines include a tipping feature.

So restaurant owners had a simple choice of turning it on or leaving it off.

The interesting thing about COVID is that it took business from sit down restaurants and gave it to the fast casual chains. The fast casual chains that didn't demand tips enabled the tipping feature and created the current problems.

Yeah, crazy stuff. And I always feed awkward not leaving one, because of course they know if you don't leave a tip, I don't want anyone spitting in my food or anything like that, haha.
