After eating light and healthy food over the past few days, I suddenly craved something rich and flavorful. So, I went to Geylang Bahru Hawker Centre and ordered from De Tandoor Homemade Masala Cuisine, a delicious dinner of Rendang Chicken with Briyani.
There’s no doubt that this hawker stall has become one of my favorite places to visit whenever I crave Indian food. Although it may not be an entirely authentic Indian eatery, I would describe it as a fusion of Asian, Malay, and Indian cuisine.
I think this fusion approach makes the food even more interesting because it creates a unique flavor that caters to a wider range of taste buds, especially for people like me who aren’t fans of overly spicy dishes but still enjoy the rich and aromatic taste of Indian cuisine. To be honest, while I love Indian food, I can’t always handle its spice level. Since I’m not great at tolerating spicy food, I’ve always wished for Indian dishes with a milder heat. I know that for many Indian nationals, food without that fiery spice might seem incomplete, but for someone like me, this stall has truly captured my attention.
Since my first visit, I’ve become a loyal customer, actually, I’ve been coming here at least once a week since I discovered it. My favorite dish from this stall is the Chicken Briyani, but tonight I decided to try something different, so I ordered the Rendang Chicken. This Malay-style dish has a rich and complex flavor that I really enjoy.
At first glance, the sauce might seem spicy and intense, but that’s not the case. It’s actually a beautiful blend of savory and sweet with just a hint of spice and a pleasant aroma. The sauce pairs perfectly with the fried or grilled chicken, enhancing its flavor and making each bite irresistible. I found myself eating nonstop until I finished everything.
The dish also came with generous sides and toppings that made the meal even more enjoyable. The egg, soaked in masala, became incredibly flavorful. There was a great balance between the masala, the chicken, and the rice, when eaten together, the combination was just perfect. The crispy fish crackers added an extra layer of texture and a unique flavor to the dish, while the chopped cucumbers provided freshness and a nice healthy touch.
After finishing my meal, I felt truly satisfied and full. The food was absolutely worth it, and at only $6.50, I’d say it’s a great deal for such a delicious and fulfilling dinner.
Overall, my experience at De Tandoor Homemade Masala Cuisine was truly satisfying and enjoyable. It’s a place that never fails to impress me with its flavorful dishes and comforting fusion of tastes. I’ll definitely keep coming back whenever I crave a hearty, delicious, and affordable Indian-inspired meal.
