After a couple weeks of daily gardening, it's time for an update as things start to turn green here in Northwestern Canada. First off, here's how my yard and garden look today:
I'm currently working on plowing the decomposing leaves into the soil and forming rows in the top part of the garden. Some days I can't really do any physical labour at all, and other days I can handle an hour or two. But in either case, I have to be careful not to overdo things (whatever that means), and try and hold on until the surgery (whenever that happens).
Over the past week, I've managed to sow several food and flower crops, including snow peas, green shelling peas, green leaf lettuce, romaine lettuce, two rows of carrots, Swiss chard, spinach, green onions, yellow onions, lilies, and dahlias.
You can see the progress of the plowing and planting coming along in this GIF image:
The snow is gone, but things aren't getting very lush... hopefully we get some rain soon!
Here are some other recent shots:
So far, so good! My health is in question, and I expect a difficult year in terms of weather and geopolitics, but aside from that it should be a productive season in my backyard garden. Thanks for checking out my early Spring update, and following along for more.
Grow in peace.
