Yesterday was my father's birthday. Even when we don't have a good relationship, this is a time to get nice good and a different day. It started as a usual day working in new projects. When it came time for lunch, they had bought some Chinese food. In the worst fashion ever, the Chinese food ended up being one of the worst we have had in town. I have had some bad experiences with bad cuisine before, but this was just bland food.
I also think that is really hard to mess up something like Chinese food, but it was achieved. What saved lunch was the cake mom made. It was a pre-mixed cake but she added some nuts. This additional thing made it so the cake wasn't overtly sweet. A really nice way to wash up all the bad food we had had.
For the afternoon, we had the visit of my aunt and her dog. We spent the evening talking. Well, they talked a lot while I was paying fetch with Garu. And we ended up having a really nice Strawberry Cake. And this one I couldn't photograph since my hands well full of slobber, but also because we don't have good lighting in the back yard. This last cake was refreshing. I also have to add that my brother sent money for yet another cake. A regular pound cake covered with Dulce de Leche. That one is inside the fridge since we didn't even cut it.
3 cakes in a day feels like an overkill for a birthday and very little people to attend. However, I don't mind having a piece of cake for my afternoon coffee. It was a nice day in which I had to balance my luthier work and personal things.
