I have had the chance of being invite to @octocel's family birthdays more than once now. Besides the usual game of scrabble, there's always lots of food. And the food comes in both quantity and quality.
Last Sunday, I helped her bridge a cake for another celebration. It was a late one, but they still wanted to make it count.
The usual cake maker of the family isn't around as often, so they had to make up for it.
The menu of the celebrations usual includes some kind of soup and some other foods. This time it was fish soup made by the birthday man himself. Last time, it was a soup packed with lentils and other things. When it gets late, there's another idea for food, once it was open-face sandwiches. Some were hamd and cheese; others, tuna.
With big portions, stories and a good time, I hope to get to go to the full number of them this year. It reminds me a lot of how we used to celebrate with the whole family when grandma's place was still the to-go venue for birthdays.
