In the spirits of giving back, @octocel invite me lunch for the second time in the week she came back from her vacation trip. This time it was at a buffet at the same mall where we spend most of our dates.
This is another location owned by @hatogrill. It is at Cumaná Mall an it used to be another thing before the people of Hato took control of it. It retains the same format. You see what is available and you choose from it. The food is put on a scale and you pay for it according to the weight. It is not a modern concept, but it is good food for a nice price.
The pakce also has its usual sale of desserts and coffee.
We had some Pasticho and Quesillo, plus some smoothies to drink. Pasticho is the Venezuelan lasagna. I do not know the origin of the name. It is layered Basta with beef, bechamel, cheese and ham. The hole thing is grated. Then you cut it in squares and serve portions of it. It is a very common meal in these places. The meal was nice.
The high note of the date was the Quesillo. This is a flan made with eggs, sweetened milk, vanilla and more ingredients. It is cooked on a double boiler inside the oven. The topping is caramel made with sugar and water. This presentation comes inside a cup. And for something that was made in advance, the flavor was really good. It was not too sweet. The caramel needed a bit more cooking since I like it darker, but it was nice nonetheless.
Who can complain about a free meal? Especially when you are told you are getting this treatments because you have paid for a lot of meals and dates.
