I never give enough credit to the puff pastries sold at La Panetteria. The idea of having these salty and flaky doughs stuffed with ham, cheese, bacon and else is just a usual thing for Venezuelan bakeries, but the quality sets them apart from the rest.
While waiting for the time to get to the book celebration, @octocel talked me into going to the bakery and get some of these pastries as dinner. We also got some juices to complete the meal course.
The idea was having 2 mini lunches. These the rectangular pasties. They didn't have two so we also ordered a croissant. We had a half of each thing. The fillings was the same for both, ham and cream cheese. The difference came in the kind of dough. The croissant's was far more flaky than the other pastry.
Something that is relevant to the taste and texture of these bready treats is the moistness of the dough. I have had encounters with dry doughs. They make everything else taste really bad. And they are also a choking hazard. I don't want to worry about not being able to finish my food. Let alone have it be something that could end me.
Fortunately, La Panetteria always has some really nice options to fulfill an empty stomach with some quality sweets and savory treats.
