I was out of my house three days in a row form Friday to Sunday. And I mean doing things other than teaching. But something that could not be missed on these posts from the things I was doing was my mom's quesillo.
Quesillo is basically a flan made with condensed milk and eggs. It has a caramel topping and it is cooked over a double boiler. The idea is to have a soft and sweet dessert with some bitter notes from the caramel to have it contrast the rest. The trick on this preparation is to add something that cuts the egg flavor. In my mom's quesillo, she usually adds a bit of coffee liquor or almond liquor. Depends on what she has available. This also means the quesillo will get better as more days pass. Of course, the treat dries up in the fridge, so it cannot be left there for too much time either. But you can leave it the mold for longer.
Anyways, that was my dessert after my birthday. It was an amazing one. I love quesillo. It must be my most consumed dessert.
During my time out of home on Saturday, we also decided to go have some hot dogs at Hato Grill in Cumaná Mall. We had already seen they sell hot dogs there, but were not convinced they might be good. That comes from the fact that hot dogs are a street thing. So you get them from stands and other places. A place so neat might not give you the best dog. However, we were surprised to get a really good hot dog. They tasted like the usual street dogs one gets. They have less ingredient but they also have quality.
So you can get some of these with yellow cheese for 2$.
