Wandering in my Gallery I found these photos of an hallaca. It also made recall the time when I had it. It feels like it was too long ago. But then I remember we are close to the season of the dish and can wait for a bit longer.
This hallaca comes from a batch made by my brother's godmother. They were exquisite. The secret? I think it is that they had some bacon in it alongside with the usual stew that makes hallacas their own thing.
Something that was kissing in this run were the boiled egg and potatoes. So we threw a whole egg on the dish to have some of the signature toppings from the east side of the country. I don't know who came with the idea of putting eggs and potatoes inside hallacas, but that person deserves a medal.
Anyways, I'n hoping these people nake some more hallacas to sell this year as I want to have some of these goodies during the end of the year. Hopefully they will have some bacon in it.
There are hallacas of many flavors. The interesting ones I have tried were made with tuna stew. However, I know that some are made with rabbit, tortoise, and other different game.
Have your tried a weird hallaca?
