Welcome to my blog 🤗
Thank God it's Fridayyyyyyyyyy
It is that time of the week when you feel like sitting back and enjoying your life after you have had a great week working and ensuring you get tasks completed. It is not a bad idea to celebrate little wins once in a while especially if you are that one person who hardly find time to hangout with friends and family due to the busy nature of your work. That is when treating yourself to an exquisitely prepared homemade delicacies will be a good idea.
So, this evening I decided to give myself and my family a good treat by making us some beef suya. Suya is a snack in Nigeria that is mostly prepared on the streets especially at nights but lately we have learnt some of the secret ingredients that are used to make the best suyas, so we can now make it in the comfort of our homes. Well, it may almost be impossible to do it the way the experts on the streets who do it on a daily basis do it having understudy thier predecessor for many years. It is a business that is popular attributed to the men from Northern part of Nigeria. One thing that makes suya unique is the fact that it is always spicy.
Ingredients Needed
½ kg of beef
1 medium-sized onion
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp curry
1 tsp herbal mix
1 tsp salt
2 tablespoon yaji (suya spice)
Step by Step
I started by preparing the meat. The sizes the meat were cut where I bought them were too big so I started by cutting into smaller chunks.
Next I washed it thoroughly and placed in a pot. In the pot I added all the ingredients except the suya spice. I mixed them together; added a little water and cooked for about 8 – 10 minutes.
When it is well cooked, I drained the water from the meat and moved it to a preheated airfryer of about 180°C.
Meanwhile, I had already placed an aluminium foil paper on the air fryer basket and sprinkled some vegetable oil on the paper.
The meat was air fried for about 10 minutes but I flipped the sides about twice during this period to ensure all the sides were well grilled.
So, when it was done I served it in a plate and sprinkled some yagi on it and sliced some ring shaped onions on it.
I enjoyed the suya with a chilled can of Malt drink while I streamed a movie on YouTube. Even though I didn't go out to have fun i was still able to create my fun for myself in the house.
