Hello Hive Food Community! How's your day guys? I hope you're doing well. Wanna try to make some snacks? Because here i'll give a kind of snack recipe for you.
Have you ever heard of Snow White cookies? That's the cookies from my country, Indonesia. I know that's not exactly its name, because in Indonesian we call it "Kue Putri Salju", it's always appear every holidays, especially on Eid al-Fitr (Muslims' holiday). Y'know what? Those cookies actually aren't from Indonesia. It's originally European, called "Vanille Kipferl". Every country has different names for this cookie.
But what i made wasn't the original one. I modified the recipe. Snow White cookies are coated with icing sugar, which makes them very sweet. I love sweets but don't really like it if too much. So i replaced the icing sugar with powdered milk instead. And i got the own name for this version too. I call it "Snowdust milk cookies". It's not really hard to make it at home. The ingredients can be found easily. Let's check it out!
- 150 grams of Wheat flour (10 tbsp)
- 75 grams of Margarine (5 tbsp)
- 40 grams of Condensed milk (4 tbsp)
- 30 grams of Powdered milk (2 tbsp)
- 3 grams of Baking powder (½ tsp, optional)
Let's prepare all the ingredients. Make sure you wash your hands first.
Mix the flour with margarine and condensed milk. Stir them with a spoon.
Oh i almost forget to add the baking powder. But it's optional, if you don't have it then skip this step. Baking powder just got the cookie better.
Mix it again with a spoon. After that, knead the dough with your hands. Did i tell you to wash your hands first? :)
Okay, then let's prepare for the work surface, spread with a little flour if needed. But i used my plastic tray, it didn't sticky at all.
Put the dough on it. I don't have a rolling pin so i just pressed it and made it wide by my fingers.
After that you can cut the dough into any shapes you want. For me, i chose the crescent-moon shape. I cut it with a mini plastic cup.
They were all the circles at first.
So i had to cut them again in half to make the crescent-moon shapes.
Repeat these cutting steps to the rest of the dough.
Here's all i have.
Now let's bake the cookies. I don't have an oven so i baked them on a non-sticky frying pan! Spread it with a little bit of margarine if you need.
Put them on the frying pan like this. If your frying pan isn't large enough, just divide and bake them for 2 sessions. I did that anyway.
Cover the pan and bake it on a very low heat for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, flip the cookies so they'll be baked perfectly. Bake them again for 5-10 minutes.
Almost done, just few more steps and get ready for finishing.
Prepare a jar for the cookies. Choose the jar size depending on the amount of cookies you bake.
Pour the powdered milk into the jar, just a little bit for the bottom.
Put the cookies and arrange them in the jar. Then pour the powdered milk again on the cookies. Make sure all the cookies are coated by the powdered milk.
Repeat this step to the rest of the cookies.
And... Yeayyyy! The Snowdust milk cookies are ready to serve! They all looks "snowy" and tasty right?
Share them with your family and friends, or even your guests! I'm sure they'll love it.
And that's all my post for today. Hope you like this recipe. Thanks a bunch for visiting my post and see ya next time! :D
