Today i would to like the recipe of Rava Idli or Semolina Stream cake. It is Simple and healthy South Indian idli recipe made with semolina and Curd batter. Basically it is served with sambar(curry) and Coconut chutney but as i have prepared it during the morning breakfast due to shortage of time i have paired it with Green Chutney even you can enjoy it with readymade chilli garlic sauce or tomato sauce too. It is ideal and healthy breakfast with less ingredients and almost with zero Oil, it is like by everyone in my family from kids to adults, so you also try this quick and simple breakfast recipe, 'm sure you gonna like it too.

Ingredients📃
• 2 cup of Rava/semolina.
• 1 cup of curd.
• 1 sachet of Eno Fruit Salt.
• water as required.
• Salt to taste.
• oil for greasing.
For Fried Idlis
• 3 tbsp of oil.
• 1/2 tbsp of Mustard Seeds.
• some Curreny leaves.
• Salt to taste.
Process 👨🏻🍳

In a big bowl, take Rava/semolina.

Add the curd and Salt, mix it well so that everything combined well.

Also, add water and mix adjusting the consistency.

keep it aside for 7-8 mins for fermentation.

After the rava has soaked well, add Eno fruit salt and mix gently.

Mix the batter until the batter turns frothy.

Subsequently, heat the idli maker with water boiling and let it be just ready for steaming and then grease the idli maker with the oil to avoid the stickness of the batter.

Now pour the batter in the greased idli mould as shown in the picture.


Steam for 10-12 minutes. To check if its done. Insert a knife or spoon back and it should come clean.

Wait for 2-3 minute before unmolding Take a spoon, dip in water each time to un mold.

Served your spongy, moist, soft rava idlis with Green chutney or Coconut Chutney.
Fried Idlis(idli Tadka)
With your leftover idlis or you can fry rava idli to make it more tempting and Delicious.

Heat the oil in the kadai, add the mustard seeds, slit the green chilli and some neem curry, wait untill it start sputtering

Meanwhile cut the idlis into the 2 piece or 4 piece, depending on your choice. Add the idlis into the kadai.

Make sure to keep the flame on medium flame. This will make the idli crispy from outside, but idlis will remain soft within. Fry it for three to four minutes and make sure to stir in-between

Your fried idlis are ready to serve, paired it with green Chutney or Coconut chutney.
