Fried Basket Cake

Hi bloggers and food lovers! What are you cooking today? Today I’m going to share a recipe for a sweet snack made from basket cake (a sticky sweet made from glutinous rice and sugar) that I had left over from Chinese New Year. Since I still had some and was tired of eating it plain, I decided to turn it into a chewy, sweet fried treat. Okay, let’s get started

Ingredients:

  • 1 basket cake
  • 5 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp rice flour
  • 1 tbsp margarine
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • a pinch of salt
  • water as needed
  • cooking oil

Instructions:

  • Place the all-purpose flour in a bowl

  • Add the rice flour

  • Add the vanilla extract and margarine

  • Add a pinch of salt

  • Gradually add water until the batter reaches a thick consistency

  • Cut the basket cake into small pieces

  • Dip the pieces of basket cake into the batter

  • Heat the cooking oil

  • Fry the basket cake until golden brown

  • Remove and drain

  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds as a topping

  • The fried basket cake is ready to serve
