Hi food bloggers! Back again with another simple and fun recipe. This time, I'm sharing a recipe for Tofu Katsu, a dish that's perfect for vegan lovers and just as tasty as chicken katsu, which is also a great source of protein. Tofu is made from proceed soybeans and has a dense, and katsu has a crunchy texture and an appealing golden-brown color.
Ingredients:
- 250 grams of white tofu
- 1 stalk of green onion
- half a carrot
- 1 egg ( for vegan you can use cornstarch)
- 6 tablespoons of wheat flour
- 1 tablespoon of ground pepper
- 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
- salt
- 1 tablespoon of paprika powder
- breadcrumbs
- vegetable oil
- Cheese (optional)
How to make it:
Clean the tofu, then mash it and set aside
Chop the green onion and carrot into small pieces, then add them to the mashed tofu and stir
Add the egg, wheat flour, and seasonings such as garlic powder, ground pepper, paprika powder, and salt to the tofu, stir until well blended
Shape the mixture into katsu patties. As an extra, I add cheese spread to the katsu mixture, then cover it again with the tofu mixture.
Coat the katsu mixture with breadcrumbs.
Heat the oil, then fry the katsu mixture in hot oil until golden brown.
Serve on a plate, accompanied by tomato sauce or chili sauce, or Japanese curry sauce. And done 👩🍳
