While the world are still drooling over burgers and hamburgers, Indian move a step ahead to enjoy bread in a all new differrnt style. I know many of you already knew about Pav-Bhaji. Pav bhaji is a popular dish in India and abroad because it's a quick, affordable, and hearty meal that's easy to prepare. Pav bhaji is made from a spicy vegetable mash (bhaji) served with bread rolls (pav). The bhaji is a blend of vegetables, spices, and butter, and the dish is often garnished with cilantro and onions. Craving to enjoy to street delicies I started preparing to cook the same of my own.
Just like pizza were originated in Italy. This mouth water spicy dish was originated in Mumbai in the 1850s as a lunch option for textile mill workers. Street vendors created the dish using ingredients from other dishes on the menu to meet the workers' needs for a cheap, filling meal. The name comes from the Hindi and Marathi words pav, which means "bread roll or dinner roll", and bhaji, which means "a vegetable dish".
Pav bhaji became an instant hit in Mumbai's fast-paced lifestyle and is now considered a culinary identity or soul food by street food lovers across India. You can find it at upscale restaurants, school and college canteens, and street side push carts, as well as in Indian restaurants abroad. Pav bhaji is a vegetable curry (bhaji) cooked in tomato gravy and served with a soft bread roll (pav). Typical ingredients include chopped vegetables like bell pepper, cauliflower, green beans, carrots, and beets, peas, boiled potatoes, onion, tomatoes, cumin, ginger and garlic, red chili powder, turmeric, and pav bhaji masala.
From street food to home kitchen the dish covered a long distances. It was said ewelier that the bhaji portion is made of many vegetables. A mix of vegetables like potatoes, onions, carrots, peas, cauliflower, bell peppers, and tomatoes. You can use fresh vegetables or pre cut store bought options. And a blend of spices called bhaji masala, which is similar to chaat masala but spicier. You can make your own bhaji masala or buy it from an Indian store. With ease availability i cut it short to limited items. I made use of
- Potaoes
- Tomatoes.
- Onion
- Capscium
- Beetroot
Washed and cut them into small pieces, i was all set to cook. I made use of Butter and Cummins seeds.

I further added onion, and other other vegetable and fried them in low heat.

I added mix of different indian spices. It includes :
- Turmeric
- Red chillie powder
- Garam masala
- Pav Bhaji masala
- Salt
And stir them to mix properly.

I added little water to it to make it little loose in appearsnce.
Our bhaji is ready, we can heat the pav in a pan and serve it hot and spicy with bhaji.
It taste much better. Thanks to easy availability of the *Pav bhaji masala. My experiment comes out nicely..
