I know it sounds like a very common and basic recipe, but what I really want to show you is how I've progressed and learned how to make cookies. These cookies are different from the previous ones I made, not only because of the chocolate sprinkle, but because I'm going to use a different type of butter and also add more lemon zest. Why did I choose a different butter? Well, it's because it was a two-in-one purchase. This butter is the one we like for our daily arepita, while the other butter wasn't, as it was very greasy and had a somewhat strong flavor. In arepas, the flavor is identifiable, but for desserts, it's very good, and the flavor isn't even noticeable. So I hope this information helps. I started by first placing the butter and sugar in a bowl and then mixing until smooth. This takes a while to give the mixture the right texture.

I then continued mixing, this time adding the egg and lemon zest. I grated all the green part of the lemon, as I wanted the mixture to have more lemon flavor. Don't worry, that doesn't make it bitter; in fact, it gives it a better flavor, almost like lemon cookies.

Now that the mixture is ready, I'll add the wheat flour. To do this, I first mixed with a spoon and, when I could, I began kneading with my hands (well-washed, of course; hygiene is paramount). Once I saw that the dough had a good texture, I added the chocolate sprinkles and mixed again. Afterwards, I let it rest in the freezer.

After leaving them in the freezer for a while, I formed several small balls and then shaped them into round shapes. Using a fork, I drew a small pattern on them and sprinkled chocolate sprinkles on top. Once assembled, I placed them in the oven for about 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
