🇪🇸 ~ ¡Hola a todos! 🍵 🌙 ¿Cómo se preparan para la noche de mañana?, yo estoy preparando mi pequeña maleta para salir a la reunión familiar anual por Navidad y Año Nuevo; he tenido unos días agradablemente ocupados y también algunas publicaciones pendientes por terminar detallitos en la edición (todos son felizmente buenas noticias o participaciones en concursos antes de final de Diciembre).
🇺🇸 ~ Hello, everyone! 🍵 🌙 How are you preparing for tomorrow night? I'm packing my little suitcase to go to the annual family reunion for Christmas and New Year's. I've had a pleasantly busy few days and also some posts pending to finish up with a few editing details (all of which are happily good news or contest entries before the end of December).
Como en años anteriores llevare mi laptop conmigo y espero tener un tiempito apartado para publicar los post-temáticos de estas festividades; hoy traigo un cameo de lo que fue la pasada reunión familiar que tuvimos para terminar el número faltante de hallacas, también adelantamos el "dulce de lechosa y manjar blanco", y mañana por la mañana continuaremos con el cerdo horneado y la ensalada (este año me corresponde el cake de zanahoria) 🍰 🥕
As in previous years, I will take my laptop with me and hope to have some time set aside to publish posts related to these festivities. Today, I bring you a glimpse of our last family gathering, where we finished the remaining hallacas. We also got a head start on the “dulce de lechosa y manjar blanco,” and tomorrow morning we will continue with the baked pork and salad (this year it's my turn to make the carrot cake) 🍰 🥕

Esta vez sí pude tomar fotografías del picadillo, les dije que era bonito 😄 el proceso del guiso de hallaca es súper colorido y en el post anterior de preparativos para Navidad no pude registrarlo.
🏺 Te comparto un tip fascinante:
Cuando haces guiso para hallacas lo ultimo que se agrega es el aceite, porque el aceite sella la sal y todos los condimentos y sabores.
Una vez que agregas aceite y si quieres modificar algo, eso puede alterar la receta en resultados impredecibles porque la sal ya no será absorbida por las verduras y carnes.
🌶️ Te comparto otro tip interesante:
A mi que me preocupa mucho enchilarme los dedos, porque el desespero no es normal cuando tus dedos absorben el jugo de los ajís picantes, TOMATE UN ANTIALERGICO ANTES DE COMENZAR A PICAR, eso reducirá la reacción de tu cuerpo en caso que sufras ese accidente, y también lávate regularmente las manos sobre todo si hueles el picante en el aire mientras picas.

🏺 Here's a fascinating tip:
When you make stew for hallacas, the last thing you add is the oil, because the oil seals in the salt and all the seasonings and flavors.
Once you add oil, if you want to change something, it can alter the recipe with unpredictable results because the salt will no longer be absorbed by the vegetables and meats.
🌶️ Here's another interesting tip:
I'm very concerned about getting my fingers spicy, because the discomfort is not normal when your fingers absorb the juice from hot peppers. TAKE AN ANTIALLERGIC BEFORE YOU START CHOPPING. This will reduce your body's reaction in case you have an accident, and also wash your hands regularly, especially if you smell the spice in the air while chopping.

La persona que hace las bolitas de masa es mi mamá, quien envuelve las hallacas es su hermana, mi tía, y yo de nuevo soy la "amarradora" oficial de la cadena de producción, pero esta vez tuve doble reto porque también estaba cuidando a mi pequeña sobrina (que me sirvió un plato de guisado de juguete con una solemnidad bastante seria).
En años anteriores los niños tendrían prohibido estar alrededor o en la mesa de preparación de las hallacas pero con mis super-poderes de tía +30 pude abogar para que mi sobrina nos acompañara de cerca, sobre todo porque estaba muy interesada en aprender cómo se hace una hallaca y creo que esas chispas de iniciativa y curiosidad hay que apreciarlas y alentarlas (gracias Dios por esta sobrina que quiere aprender a hacer hallacas y no abducida todo el día por el Roblox).
The person who makes the dough balls is my mom, the one who wraps the hallacas is her sister, my aunt, and I am once again the official “tie-er” in the production chain, but this time I had a double challenge because I was also taking care of my little niece (who served me a plate of toy stew with quite serious solemnity).

Después de cumplir la meta de las hallacas pasamos un día extra, relajado en familia.
De mi lado aprendí a hacer "dulce de lechosa" con la acotación importante de que al menos en la versión de mi familia, no se le hecha agua en cantidad, solo el agua que quepa en la taza de café mas pequeña.
El resto de la tarde la pasé leyendo fanfics mientras vigilaba la olla del dulce hirviendo; mañana es Navidad y espero todos estén seguros y felices en sus hogares, que tengan una velada agradable y disfruten mucho la última semana de 2025 🎆 ✨
After achieving our goal of making hallacas, we spent an extra day relaxing with the family.
I learned how to make dulce de lechosa, with the important note that, at least in my family's version, you don't add a lot of water, just enough to fill the smallest coffee cup.
I spent the rest of the afternoon reading fanfiction while keeping an eye on the pot of boiling dulce. Tomorrow is Christmas, and I hope everyone is safe and happy in their homes. Have a pleasant evening and enjoy the last week of 2025 🎆 ✨
