Hello friends and Hivians. Howdy Silver Bloggers Community today I will talk about the weather, a little on my son's basketball, taxes and a crazy busy work schedule ahead. Things a lot of us have to deal with, right? There's been wild weather here due to abrupt changes to the temperatures here. Also the last few days there has been some surprises and disappointments too.
The temperatures on Monday here reached 80° F (26.6° C) and the following day we had temperatures reach a low of 17° F (-8.3° C) What a difference right? I seen people on Monday running outside in shorts. I was delivery driving and I even thought about turning on the air conditioner in my car. This month two records were set for temperatures. The 80° F day was the warmest day of any February day in the history of recorded weather here. Also for the month as a whole its the warmest February on record.
The cold was no joke and let me tell you having a dip in temperatures like we did made it feel even colder. It didn't help as the wind was blowing at 20 to 30 mph. Towards the end of the evening we even got a dusting of snow. It was a strange experience witnessing that. I will admit my mind just couldn't fathom this but my skin sure in the hell did 😂 Just a day before we had late spring/early summer weather. I've said it before about the place I live in,"If you don't like the weather today wait until tomorrow." Doesn't always work to a science as today is even colder than yesterday.
Well today is even more cold than it was yesterday its currently 9°F (-12.7° C) right now. If you look at the 7 day it's going to be roller coaster of temperatures again. I wonder how my body will adjust to the rise and decline in temperatures. I just got over a little nagging cold and I don't wish for another. I think I'd rather have one extreme or the other not this back and forth stuff.
Well Friday was my son's last high school basketball game of his career. His team lost in the sub-state semi-final round. They fought hard for two quarters but in the end the other team won the game decisively. He got a ton of attention as he was both faced guarded and doubled mostly when he got the ball. He still managed to put up 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. He was 6 for 10 from the field and made all 4 of his free throws.
Saturday he got notified that he was invited to another all-star game. So now he has two of them to play him. This coming Sunday he going to watch a collegiate game he was invited to by a college that is interested in him 😊 High School hoops may be over but a new chapter is starting for him. I will be his biggest fan, so darn proud of that kid!
Back to yesterday. Two things that weighed on my mind other than the drastic change in temperature. One is I found out my taxes were done. I stopped by the tax place to pick up my taxes and pay them. I really was thinking of getting 3 refunds back. Well I was two for three in that regards. I have to pay a pretty sum to federal government known here as the IRS. So one of my refunds will take care of that expense. So today I increased my federal tax withholdings to hopefully prevent not paying in next year. Oh taxes, I hate them!
I had to work over time yesterday for an outbound airlift mission. It was a night mission so I worked from 9:00 p.m. to around 11:30 p.m. Fortunately it was an easier mission just 4 cargo pallets and about 50 ish passengers. A little cold working it but easy OT money.
Tomorrow I am working an irregular shift for another outbound airlift mission. I will be working from 2:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. This will be a commercial aircraft only carrying passengers. Still some work to be done as we will be throwing a lot of bags. A busy week here and the weekend holds two more missions which will be a chunk more of overtime.
Next week holds more missions and another weekend working aircraft. It wont be until the middle of March when I will have a weekend open to myself. Just hope it all goes fast because I'm looking forward to a break. I'm doing fine now and I will survive because I've been through busier stretches. It will be nice earning a little extra dough though.
Thanks for listening and I really appreciate you stopping by. Take care, stay safe and have a lovely rest of your week. Until next time!
