Yesterday was my son’s 22nd birthday. I pretended to forget about it, but I actually prepared a simple family dinner for him. Since we live away from family, I thought of gathering all family members who are also here in Davao City for school.

I invited my grandchildren and nephews who were my son’s playmates when they were younger because I know he'd be so happy to see all of them. I was happy the majority committed to be present.
I wanted some privacy with the family, so I booked a room at Café Julieta for 15 persons only to be occupied by 8PM. Four (4) hours before the scheduled dinner, I ordered 2 trays of Beef Stroganoff, Beef Caldereta, Chicken Barbecue and Rice.

Upon entrance, we were welcomed with a white flower, newspaper and alcohol for sanitation. On the right side, a board that shows their Best-Sellers is displayed. As usual, I loved the place because of its interior. It looks so clean and feminine.

The room I got was located underground and spacious enough to accommodate big bodies from our family. There were 2 long tables good for 8 people each.

While waiting for everyone to come, I went up to check the pool site. In that same area, you will also see the way to their hotel.

When I went back to our room, I first ordered some Nachos. I wanted to know if the taste was still the same and yes, it was still so good! The chips were topped with white sauce made of mayo, garlic and lettuce then topped again with cheese and beef! Oh, so yummy!!!
When I got an update that visitors were almost coming, I asked the waiter to serve the food already. I got worried upon seeing that the Beef Stroganoff and Beef Caldereta were served with 1 tray each only when I ordered for 2 trays each. I never want to run short of food on any occasion. That is so shameful!

I asked how come they did not cook the 2 trays per viand I initially ordered. The waiter said the cashier did not punch my orders correctly. So, I panicked and reordered 1 tray of Beef Stroganoff and 1 tray of Beef Caldereta to make sure there are 2 trays of each viand and to make sure we have more than enough food. While waiting for the additional food, I asked the ones who were hungry to eat ahead then I ordered drinks.
In the middle of dining, the additional food came and everybody was already full! So, we agreed to calm our tummies first and have a second round. Some ate again, some decided to just bring out some food to their dormitories and condominiums to have something for breakfast the next day.

Here’s the thing. I went to the cashier to pay our bill. Take note the room rate was fixed at Php 9,000 good for 15 heads only. We could exceed it if we opt to order more. I was expecting more or less Php 12,000 because of drinks and some overhead. Lo and behold, I was charged with Php 17000 plus, including the 12% tax and service charge. So I checked the receipt. I saw extra charges we never ordered! Oh wow!!! Good thing I checked each item. Otherwise, I was scammed with almost Php 3000.00. At first the cashier was doubtful, so I told him to check our room to check the food served there. Then he double-checked with the kitchen too. He apologized later and admitted that it was their mistake.
If it were another customer, they wouldn’t bother checking what they are paying for. Well, I do because I don’t just pick up my money from anywhere. My money is hard-earned hence every penny should count.
I have settled the matter nicely and no one in the family noticed the issue. We all went home happy and recharged with all love! Cheers everyone!
