So, what's the absolute favourite meal that I could eat every day? That was the question just over a month ago in The SB Chronicles Prompt #25 - Absolute Favourite Meal. I love cooking food, and eating it, but could not get to responding even though it was right up my alley. I was busy getting ready for my son and his girlfriend's visit for the Christmas holidays, and I still wasn't well.
I can think of more than just one favourite meal, so it's not an easy question to answer.
I love having bacon and eggs for breakfast, but could I eat that every day? I don't think so. Why not? I'm not really a breakfast person, even though they say that one should:
Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper.
Comfort food like Cottage Pie and vegetables is something I could possibly eat every day, especially when I'm not feeling well. Savoury ground beef with a fluffy and crispy mashed potato topping is right up my alley. Served with baby peas and mashed butternut, or corn on the cob and mashed spinach is my other favourite combination.

OR...
Difficult choice, but my second choice would be homemade Meatballs served with creamy mashed potatoes and vegetables. Lean ground beef, mixed with finely chopped onion, chopped parsley, a handful or two of oats, fresh herbs and spices, and an egg to bind it all, formed into round meatballs and shallow fried in a little oil. Absolutely yum!

How about fish and chips with a salad? Most days, but not every day. Especially nice when it's freshly caught, filleted, dipped into seasoned flour and then an egg, and shallow fried in oil. If it were freshly caught, I for sure could eat that every day!

Another favourite is grilled Lamb Chops served with my favourite veggies - baby food - mashed mixed vegetables with potato wedges or chips. I must have been on a health kick here, as the chips or wedges are missing! I could also eat this every day, but imagine my cholesterol, I may not live long enough to tell the tale!

Ok, so I know you must be hungry by now if some of these were your favourite foods, but I simply have to share the last three that I love, and you can see them all in the collage below. A braai or BBQ is very popular here in South Africa. Secondly, living in Durban, where we have a large population of people of Indian descent, we are fortunate to have the best curries around, from vegetarian and vegan to meat, chicken, and fish. We are spoilt for choice! And of course, another absolute favourite is seafood. But that is too rich to have every day.

All this salivating over food is not good. I know I should have spoken of just my favourite meal that I could have every day in response to the Silver Bloggers Chronicle #25. Simply impossible to answer with such variety, but these are all my favourites, so how about I have one of these every day? That should make for a balanced diet? Or am I only trying to fool myself?
These are favourite meals I have shared over the years, so you may recognise some from my old posts, but it is food I prepared myself, except for the fish and seafood from our favourite seafood restaurant!
