Greetings lovely Hiveans !!! Such a lovely topic related to cookinf by @ericvancewalton for #memoirmonday. I find happiness in cooking anything, that is enjoyed by my family and friends. Imagine getting a word of praise..... the happiness has no limits.
Cooking is an art which I developed lately in my mid-age, honestly, when I left my job. Because I started to enjoy my food only when I cooked leisurelyat my comfort zone - only then my taste buds realized the spice, sourness, sweetness and bitterness of any food.
Here, I just made limited side dishes, as told by my family members
When it comes to eating their is a say in my place "you can eat anything, that doesn't turn around and eat you". And I believe its true and go with it. I know it sounds strange, but then its the fact.
What I would love to cook ?
One of the famous festival in my state is Onam. It is celebrated with great pomp to commemorate the victory of King Mahabali. Here , the food is the main highlight. An oldest form of traditional food. The food is completely a vegetarian delight. Rice with around four to five curries and more than 20 side doshes which includes sweet and sour curry and 3 variety porridges, two to three snacks, Indian pappads and pickles
These are the favorites of my children too
Here the food is served in a Banana leaf with rice in the centre abd side dishes around the rice. To be honest, I love all the dishes. I find happiness in cooking them. This whole some vegetable rice is called Sadya The preparation starts a day ahead. With all the veggies being cut a day before and early the very next morning , the grand preparation starts.
If its a big family, all of them sit together down to have their meal. First the plantain is laid and then the serving starts. Once it is completed, everybody are given porridges maybe, milk mixed one or jaggery mixed one. In marriages also people prefer Sadya.
They say too many hands spoil the broth. But here, cooking becomes enjoyable when all family members are involved. Together cutting veggies, coconut grating and grinding, the aroma while cooking .... all these in a hurry makes cooking exciting. I really wish you get a chance to taste this meal.
Thank Almighty this festival is celebrated only once a year, as cooking is not easy as seen.
All photos taken from my Samsung Galaxy A50 during these festivals. Hope you enjoyed my meal and my sincere thanks for your visit
