However, since my daughters and I hadn't had the opportunity to see my mother-in-law on New Year's Eve, my husband and I decided to lovingly prepare a delicious lasagna and invite her to our home to celebrate the start of the new year.
My mother-in-law has been in delicate health lately, and this has also affected her appetite. That's why I wanted to cheer her up a bit, taking her out of her routine, providing her with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and showing her how our kitchen looked after some renovations we worked so hard on. Her smile when she saw the result was one of the greatest rewards of the evening.
The evening was very pleasant. My sister-in-law Neira and Mrs. Liliana, my daughter Daniela's mother-in-law, joined us. We shared laughter, anecdotes, and that human warmth that can only be found within a family. It was a moment of genuine connection, one of those that can't be bought or planned, but simply experienced and treasured.
To end on a high note, she prepared a delicious dessert that was the hit of the night. Everyone was delighted, and seeing their faces light up with joy and flavor was a gift for the soul.
This gathering reminded me, once again, that family is our safest refuge. It's that place where we can be ourselves, where we find comfort in difficult times and joyfully celebrate life's small triumphs.
