Este fin de semana pasado fui a la casa de mi mamá a festejar su cumpleaños así que hoy quiero contarles sobre eso.
Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing very well today and that you had a wonderful rest. This past weekend, I went to my mom's house to celebrate her birthday, so today I want to tell you about it.
Mi mamá cumplió 53 años el pasado 23 de mayo. Todos los años ella reniega de hacer un festejo pero al final termina cediendo porque igualmente vamos todos los que la queremos a festejar con ella y llenamos su casa aunque no quiera 😂 así que no tiene más remedio que asistir a su propia fiesta de cumpleaños.
Llegué temprano, aproximadamente a eso de las 3 pm. Y estaban empezando con los preparativos muy lentamente. Así que aprovechamos el tiempo con mis hermanas para actualizar nuestra foto de hermanas porque la última que teníamos juntas fue hace unos años atrás.
My mom turned 53 on May 23rd. Every year she complains about having a celebration, but in the end, she always gives in because all of us who love her go to celebrate with her and fill her house even if she doesn't want us to 😂 so she has no choice but to attend her own birthday party. I arrived early, around 3 pm, and they were just starting with the preparations very slowly. So my sisters and I took advantage of the time to update our sister photo because the last one we had together was from a few years ago.

En mi familia somos todas mujeres. Hay algún que otro hombre pero ellos nunca asisten a los festejos así que siempre terminamos siendo mujeres. Y por suerte somos mujeres que resolvemos así que ya habían comenzado a hacer las empanadas con tiempo, para comer temprano.
En alguna otra ocasión les contaré como las solemos hacer en nuestra familia pero ahora básicamente diré que es una masa rellena de carne con verduras. Es una receta que rinde mucho y es una buena opción para cuando hay mucha gente, como en esta ocasión.
Fue un trabajo comunitario. Mi mamá se encargó de hacer la masa casera. Mi tía de hacer el relleno. Con mi cuñado (el único hombre que asistió) las rellenamos e hicimos el repulgue, que falló y no quedó tan estético porque era su primera vez 😂 pero sin dudas la próxima vez lo hará mejor.
In my family, we are all women. There are a few men, but they never attend the celebrations, so it always ends up being just us women. Fortunately, we are women who get things done, so they had already started making the empanadas in advance to eat early. On another occasion, I'll tell you how we usually make them in our family, but for now, I'll basically say that it's a dough filled with meat and vegetables. It's a recipe that goes a long way and is a good option when there are many people, like on this occasion. It was a communal effort. My mom was in charge of making the homemade dough. My aunt made the filling. My brother-in-law (the only man who attended) and I filled them and made the repulgue, which didn't turn out very aesthetic because it was his first time 😂 but without a doubt, he'll do better next time.

Como no es un cumpleaños si no hay torta, yo me ocupé de esa tarea junto con mi hermana y mi prima.
Hice simplemente un bizcochuelo de vainilla. Cuando estaba listo, lo corté a la mitad y lo rellené con una mezcla de crema de leche y dulce de leche, y le agregué pedacitos de chocolate por encima.
Luego, la cubrí con crema de leche y le tiré chocolate por encima. La decoré con confites de colores e hice 3 flores, que obviamente simboliza a sus tres hijas 😂 La pastelería no se me da muy bien pero la realidad es que me quedó muy linda y deliciosa.
Since it's not a birthday without a cake, I took on that task along with my sister and my cousin. I simply made a vanilla sponge cake. When it was ready, I cut it in half and filled it with a mixture of whipped cream and dulce de leche, and added chocolate pieces on top. Then, I covered it with whipped cream and sprinkled chocolate on top. I decorated it with colorful candies and made three flowers, which obviously symbolize her three beautiful daughters 😂. Baking isn't really my strong suit, but the truth is it turned out very pretty and delicious.
Estuvimos disfrutando por unas cuantas horas, bailamos, nos reímos, conversamos, comimos. Aprovechamos el tiempo muy bien ya que algunas no nos veíamos hace mucho tiempo, desde el festejo del año pasado. En esta foto se puede apreciar el poder femenino matriarcal que nos rodea y a mi cuñado 😂
We enjoyed ourselves for several hours, dancing, laughing, talking, and eating. We made the most of our time together since some of us hadn't seen each other for a long time, not since last year's celebration. In this photo, you can appreciate the matriarchal feminine power that surrounds us and my brother-in-law 😂.
Le cantamos el feliz cumpleaños y nos tomamos fotos con ella. Ella estaba muy contenta de que estemos ahí. Así que sin dudas fue un gran festejo de cumpleaños 💖
We sang happy birthday to her and took photos with her. She was very happy that we were there. So, without a doubt, it was a great birthday celebration 💖.
