My Mom's Birthday, 2025!!!

in Family & Friends3 days ago

It was my mom's birthday a couple of days ago. At home we don't do big parties, we are more acts of service focused, so we make all meals for the day. This time I made almost all on my own, breakfast, lunch, the cake, and then my sister helped with some things to do the club-house. My mom had a blast not having to set foot on the kitchen all day, and we managed to keep it a surprise easily.

I like cooking so that was my present. For breakfast I make the simplest yet delicious meal: Fried Bread. You make that by drenching the bread in eggs and frying them with a little bit of oil in a pan. Serve with a nice grated cheese and it is so fast to get done but so rewarding. It's a once in a while meal tho, because it gets fatty. We eat that and let me tell you, you can eat that forever and don't even realize how much you have eaten already.

There would be a photo of the breakfast here but I forgot to take it, it was also my breakfast and I was hungry XD

For lunch I didn't have much time because I was in a meeting right before lunch time, but I've perfected the one hours cooking time. I made a whole meal with rice, salad, boiled plantains, steak and guava juice. The steak was made with a nice onion and tomato sauce, all made with fresh ingredients. I had to learn to prepare things in one hours because I work from home and I can't be all day cooking.

The cake I prepared the day before, because cakes always test better like one or two days after, fresh one haven't completely settled the flavors. I made it after a whole day of washing all the vegetables my dad bought for 15 days and putting them away. I like to wash and dry everything, if something looks off I freeze or prepare sauces immediately, all I can do so nothing goes to waste. Anyway, I was tired, but I still made the cake. It was a marble cake. A big one. Nest day I decorated with a strawberry sirop made with strawberry jelly and corn starch, and grated chocolate all over it, and some powdered sugar. It was simple but delicious and cute.

We had coffee and chocolate to drink because we are not doing sodas at this home now XD

We had family over to eat the cake, talked a lot, and once they left we got to the dinner. It was the last thing I had prepared, I had already seasoned what needed seasoning and cut what needed to be pre-cut, so we got right into it - although I had to take a little time to play chess with my little cousin XD -

A club-house needs so many things, toasting the sandwich bread beforehand, cooking the chicken, the eggs, frying the fries hehe, and assembling. Bread > mayo > ketchup > mustard > tomato > lettuce > onion > cheese > ham > chicken > bacon > bread > mayo > ketchup > mustard > tomato > lettuce > onion > cheese > ham > egg > bacon > bread, we made 4, well, 6 but only ate four for dinner and the rest were eaten next day.

Wow making instead of buying. That's the best gift to your mom. Happy Birthday to your mother and More Blessings to Come and More Candles To Blow🎂🎉🥳🎉🎂🥳🎉🎂

Thanks! Yeah, she loved it. I think there is a special value on doing instead of buying, especially if the love language of the people involved is not gift giving.
