Voices, Laughter, and Friendship in Harmony

in Family & Friends3 days ago

Our rehearsal for Sunday was filled with fun and learning. This is Apen, or Stephen (his real name), a good friend of mine who led and guided us as we practiced. He divided the voices for the choir and really knows how to bring out the best in each part because of his background and lessons in singing. His voice is beautiful, and you can really see his passion when he sings. He even brought his MacBook M2—very professional! HAHA. In this shot, he’s raising his finger upward while hitting a high note. Truly, God’s gift in music!

looking so serious yet funny at the same time, making everyone laugh joyfully together.

This is Jonalyn and Hannah. Jonalyn smiled when she noticed me holding a phone, while Hannah couldn’t stop laughing at Apen. He looked so serious while tapping, but honestly, he’s a joker at times, especially with his actions. HAHA! Some of us also cracked up when others struggled to hit the higher notes—it’s impossible not to laugh in those moments. Little things like this make our rehearsals more memorable, filled with both music and joy. Serving God with laughter and friendship truly makes everything lighter, reminding us that worship can be both fun and meaningful.

This is Johny, and beside him is Apen. Do you remember them from my last story here on Hive? I shared about them before, and now here they are again making everyone laugh. Johny couldn’t hold back his laughter this time—just look at his big smile, you can even see his braces shining through! HAHA. Moments like these remind me how fun rehearsals can be, not just about singing but also about enjoying each other’s company.

Look how funny Johny is—he suddenly shifted from laughing to being serious! HAHAHA. The reason? Johnrey came closer and whispered something to his ear, probably a very serious comment. What made it even funnier was that Johny had to keep a straight face while listening, even though just a second ago he was laughing so hard. At the same time, John was holding the mic and singing while still managing to listen to Johnrey’s words. It was such a random but hilarious moment during rehearsal that made everyone around us smile.

This is KJ, also one of our good friends. Sometimes when we go out, I get to ride at the back of his motorcycle—HAHA! He’s such a generous person, always willing to help and give to his friends. Maybe it’s because he’s still single, so instead of spoiling a girlfriend, he chooses to share his blessings with his friends. That’s KJ for you! He’s also our pianist, and in this photo he’s seriously practicing and playing with so much dedication.

This is Grace Ann, my sister. I couldn’t stop laughing at their reactions during rehearsal—especially hers! Just look at her face while trying to hit the high notes. HAHA! Her expression completely changed as if she was thinking, “Apen, you really made this difficult for us!” It was so funny to watch. And if you notice in the photo, Johny was also busy recording himself on video at the same time. These moments make practice so unforgettable—serious music, funny faces, and lots of laughter all in one frame.

Look at her face here—HAHAHA! She even placed her mic under her arm, tucked tightly like she didn’t care anymore. Then she just stared blankly as if saying, “Apen, what is this? Why did you give me such a high note to sing?” The expression on her face was priceless, almost like she had just tasted something sour. Moments like this during rehearsal make us laugh so much. Even in the middle of serious practice, there’s always something unexpectedly funny that keeps the atmosphere light and joyful.

Look at Pangging, sitting all by herself in that chair, practicing her part. She and Grace Ann are both sopranos, and the notes assigned to them were so high that she ended up staring blankly, probably thinking, “How am I supposed to reach this?” HAHA! To make it even funnier, she had ice cream and cake earlier—who wouldn’t run out of breath after eating so much sweetness before rehearsal? Still, she carried it well, because she actually has the highest voice among us. That’s why we trust her with those challenging soprano parts. By the way, she’s my cousin, which makes it even more special to share these moments of laughter, music, and practice together.

After our rehearsal, we planned a little “salo-salo” together. I cooked pancit canton for everyone, while they bought barbecue and juice from the store. Of course, I also prepared rice for the group because food is always better when shared. Most of the music team are actually my close friends, so it feels more like hanging out with my barkada. That’s what makes it extra fun—being with people who are not only teammates in music but also your real buddies in life. We laughed, talked about random topics, and enjoyed the food. And you know what? They even pitched in and bought the extras themselves—HAHA, all I really did was the cooking!

Excellent post.

Thank you, my friend❤️

Everyone has their unique characteristics haha. I can feel that they are good to bond with. They can turn a moody one to easygoing. 😅😅

Indeed, bestie, they are the best!
