Staying healthy

in Hive Naijayesterday

There are many different ways people go about staying healthy, both physically and mentally. While some are fond of weekly medical checkups, others are against it and prefer to focus on eating well and relaxing.

The following are the things I do to take care of my health:

I Eat Well and Stay Hydrated Always

The idea of "eating well" for me may not be as strict as those following a diet plan, but I make sure to eat food daily. I never feel bad about using my last money to buy food because I believe that if I starve for too long, especially with my ulcer, I could easily fall sick. I do not joke about food. Most of the time, I eat home-cooked meals prepared by me. I hardly buy food outside, except on rare occasions. My home-cooked meals are always prepared to my taste, and they have that familiar, comforting "homemade" feel, unlike the overly fried food sold outside.

I believe the reason I rarely fall seriously ill is because of the kind of food I eat. I have seen and heard of people who eat out and end up with stomach pain or diarrhea the next day, which reinforces my preference for home-cooked meals.

I also stay hydrated at all times. I hardly go out without money in my pocket to buy water and drink along the way. I have tried carrying a water bottle, but it did not work for me, I lost the two I bought. So, I just buy sachet water and drink it frequently. I am unapologetic about this, even when I get weird looks from friends for drinking water so often. I have learned that a well-hydrated body is a healthy body, and I keep that in mind always. Drinking water has become a natural habit for me.

Tackling the Littlest Symptoms

I am not among those who go for medical checkups very often, but whenever I experience minor symptoms like headaches, colds, or excessive sneezing, I do not hesitate to take medicine to tackle the issue before it worsens. This is why I always keep simple medicines like paracetamol and Panadol in my house, they serve as my first aid.

I remember a particular incident when I took a bath, and afterward, my body started itching. The first day it happened, I assumed there was an issue with the water I used, so I ignored it. However, when I experienced the same symptoms the following day, I immediately got medicine to remedy the situation. I do not like any form of health inconvenience at all.

Managing Stress and Mental Health

Over time, I have noticed that anger and excessive thinking give me headaches. Because of this, I avoid situations that could push me to the point of shouting at someone or stressing my mind with too many thoughts. I mind my business a lot, and this has been very helpful in maintaining my overall health.

Thank You!
