In-Between Please: Not Too Sweet, Not Too Salty

in Hive Naija8 hours ago

Food is an essential part of human life and survival. When it comes to eating, people have different opinions and tastes about what they like, from those who prefer salty food to those whose choice is sugary ones. I won't say I'm either of the two, although if I were to pick a side, I would have stuck with sugary food more, but then we all know that too much of everything is bad, and that's why I'm one of those people who like balance, not too sugary and not too salty to leave me drinking a gallon of water afterward. So in this article, I'll be talking about my preference that's safe and satisfies me.

I hope this doesn't make me seem like I'm painting myself as a saint, because the truth is that I enjoy drinking sweet things, especially a chilled soft drink such as Pepsi or Fanta, or a slice of cake. There are times I visit restaurants or parties and long for those spicy jollof rice and the like, which are a bit salty. While I eat those things once in a while, I must say I don't enjoy it on a regular basis, and that's probably why my taste buds appreciate balance more than those in excess.

I used to be the kind of person who ate anything whenever I liked, in the past, from overly sugary and sweet food to those that are tasty due to excessive salt and seasoning, but not in excess consistently, but since the issue with my health began and I was placed on constant medication, I've had to really monitor what I eat to the latter so I won't jeopardize the little stability I have, and since the issue with my liver began, I've had to balance everything I eat so it won't be too sugary or salty.

I can vividly remember the first time I had a conversation relating to what I could eat and not eat; it was like putting me under bondage, because I mean many of the foods I could eat freely in the past are now prohibited, as they're deemed to be dangerous, and eating them could complicate things for my well-being, most especially avoiding proteinous food and several other things. It's just a painful pill to swallow because many of what was highlighted were foods I love and usually eat on a daily basis.

Since then I've been more watchful about the things I eat and try as much as possible not to go against the strict recommended meal, but then I know once in a while I still find my way to eating such sweet food, but I always make sure to avoid salty food no matter what, because it's one of those things that can easily affect the liver, so my preference is in-between; as much as the meal is sweet, it doesn't have to be sugary or salty to be good. Moderation is my new watchword, so with that being said, if you'd like to offer me a treat, I'm guessing you now know what I like.

I think I love both sweets and at the same time I like to eat salty food more compared to others. But I think it's good when the salt is in perfect rather than less or more salty.
But I am very health conscious and in rare cases I eat fast food and I rarely take cold drinks.

When it's excessive it tends to loss it savour and that's why I for one love it moderately, but then unlike you I do drink cold drinks.

Who no like better thing abeg? I love sugary food as well because salt only tastes good in the food when it is moderate.

I won’t even be able to chew or swallow the food if it is salty but sugar na my padi anytime any day 😀

Hehehe interesting, of course sugary food are great, it's just the repercussions that makes me reduce it intake.
