Many say water is life, some say food is life. Well, everyone can be entitled to their view. One thing basically I can say is that we all need food. So long as one still treads upon this earth, food is a basic necessity. No wonder it's almost always mentioned first when mentioning life's basic necessities—food, clothing, shelter. I think that's the most way they're ordered. Might be coincidence or not, but I think putting it in such a rank speaks volumes to its importance and necessity.
I can recall participating in a group chat yesterday where a friend talked of building a house. I jokingly encouraged him to make the efforts soon, volunteering to be the designer. He replied with a funny statement; "make I see food fess chop." Meaning, he would need to have some food to eat first before talking of building a house. It was funny, but then indicative of how much food is a necessity. Well, this isn't an advocacy for some food something, haha.
It's wonderful to consider how our eating habits can differ. While one finds this eating habit preferable, another doesn't just buy in. While another prefers quantity to quality, another is okay with having a little so long as it has some good vitality. I'll say some of these habits and preferences get developed subconsciously. Some get developed due to the nature of environment; the privileges of having food to eat, to satisfaction.
Back then, while in secondary school, I would say that no matter what; speaking for myself and others around, we'll gladly prefer a hundred times food in quantity than quality. We always made funny statements about how quality will be of any help. All we cared was to eat and be satisfied. Such was the influence of the environment. Meanwhile, some of such persons were people who couldn't even eat the meal at first.
Growing beyond that stage, and coming to a point where I could end up eating a major food only twice even in a day, I'll say my habits have differed. The quantity and quality are both important to me now, I'll say. There are times that I could be so famished that I know certainly beyond the quality, I need quantity as well. At other times, quality is the only preference. With limited resources sometimes, the two are a choice for me. But hey, I do love some quality food.
The availability of food doesn't mean to just eat it for me. In old times, when less engaged with life, the case could be said to be different, even though I had limits to this. I don't really have an eating time or schedule. One thing is that when I'm hungry and when I need to, I eat. Especially when it's not night. Let's say I'm stepping out and I know it's going to be long while out there, to avoid getting overwhelmed by hunger and left to some of these "fast foods" and sodas, I get myself something to eat before stepping out. Safe to say, I eat when it's necessary, not when I just feel like.
It's important I believe to consider and know what are one's eating habits and know how to manage them as well. This is due to the fact that some of the habits might need to be reconsidered for good.
