Let's start from the beginning what is food and diet.
Food is any substance consumed to provide nutritional support for the body, it is made up of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, and minerals.
Diet is the amount of food consumed by a individual ,diet often implies the use of specific intake of nutrition for health or weight-management reasons.
Effects of diet on overall health.

  1. Physical performance and energy level: good balanced diet contains lean proteins, healthy fats and complex carbohydrates.This enhance physical performance.
    While
    Poor diet intake of refined sugar reduces physical and mental stamina.
  2. Weight management:
    The intake of unprocessed food ,fibre and protein helps us maintain good weight.
    While the intake of food with poor nutrients, processed snacks and soda can lead to over weight and obesity.
  3. Management of chronic diseases:
    Adequate diet is the main factor in prevention and management of chronic non communicable disease (NCDS).
    A breakdown of some of this diseases include.
  4. Cardiovascular disease:
    Saturated fats and trans fat increase the chances of cardiovascular disease.
  5. Diabetes: Refined sugar increases the levels of diabetes.
  6. Cancer: Intake of processed meat ,low fruits and vegetables increase the risk of cancer.
  7. Osteoporosis: Insufficient intake of calcium and vitamin D leads to weakness of the bones.
    Types of diet.
    There are so many types of diet.
  8. Plant based diet.
  9. Mediterranean diet.
  10. Intermittent fasting.
  11. Low carb diet.
  12. Balanced diet.

The diet i prefer for my healthcare will be balanced diet. Because balanced diet contains variety of food groups that make the nutrients available in the body. Examples: vegetable,grain, protein,diary,fats, vitamin, minerals,fibre and water.

Balanced diet keeps us healthy in general as it contains all important food nutrients at the right proportions ,it will be my first choice everyday except for specific health issues.
Dieting is a very important aspect of our health and needs to be paid more attention by everyone to maintain good health.

We as humans need to eat balanced diet even if not everyday, at least 3-4 times a week to help us stay healthy.
