Hello friends in this lovely community, I'm happy to participate in this contest because I'm a lover of good food and I believe so much in home made meals since I consider it to be healthier than store bought or eatery food.
MY EATING HABIT
I love healthy meals and 99% of food I eat are home made. I also love cooking a lot because it makes me happy, relax, and I view it as a fun activity.
I developed love for cooking during my university days, it is funny that most students don't like cooking and would prefer to just eat out. It was different with me because I always wanted to cook and when friends started telling me how tasty my meals were, I was happy and wanted to explore more recipes and this helped me maintain a healthy diet and a good eating habit.
I also eat in little portions, preferably a small and quality meal is what works best for me.
EATING SCHEDULE
A lot of people work with different schedules when it's associated with food. As for me, I eat when I feel the need, when I'm hungry or when I know I'm on a medication and food is a prerequisite.
During work days, I eat my breakfast between 11am and 12pm, lunch between 4pm and 5pm and dinner might end up being just fruits if not totally skipped.
Some other times, I might eat breakfast, skip lunch and have my dinner between 8pm and 9pm which I feel is a bit late for a proper digestion.
NEED FOR CHANGE IN EATING HABIT AND SCHEDULE
Few years into my marriage, I discovered there was need for changes in my meal plans and especially my meal time schedules.
I had to incorporate all kinds of vegetables and fruits in my meals to help boost my vitamins and folate levels. It wasn't easy because I had to chew most of this vegetables raw, which initially had an awful taste in my mouth, but thinking of my goal, I would eat them gladly.
Now I always look forward to eating vegetables because they are now part of me, I can't let a day go buy without fruits and vegetables and it has actually kept me away from visiting the hospital to complain of a symptom or other health problems.
Then the need to eat early came in especially my breakfast. I was told not to skip my breakfast and I'm really trying to keep up with that.
Most times during weekends, I focus more on house chores and cooking, I remember my breakfast when it's almost middle of the day and with a loud scream, I would rush to quickly fix something and eat.
STEPS TO ACHIEVE A GOOD EATING HABIT
• Be specific on what you want to achieve
• Create schedule for your meals
• Make sure to purchase healthy ingredients for your meals
• Limit eating out and sugary foods/drinks
• If possible, cook 95% of your meals yourself
• consume fruits and vegetables daily
• Dedicate time to achieve goals
• Follow up and review progress
This are just a few steps highlighted above that helped me make positive changes when it comes to my eating habits. I still struggle to meet up from time to time, but I'm not giving up anytime soon until I achieve my goals.
Giving up is never an option so continue to work towards your goal.
