'You are enjoying as a student, do you know? You eat three square meals in a day'
'What do you mean?'
'Don't you know that there are some of us that eat only when we see food.'
Laughter ensues
Dear reader, the conversation above was between I and my roommate one random afternoon. I stayed worrying about what I was going to eat that afternoon, and she casually made the first statement.
Being a student, you don't always get what you want. I can crave a meal and plan to cook it later in the day. Only for me to find out an impromptu class has been fixed and when I get back, all I want to do is sleep. I have no choice but to whip up anything I can find. Noodles with egg, bread and tea, anything is fine, as long as I don't sleep hungry. But there are nights where I'm even too tired to think of what to eat, and sleep seems like the wisest option, I go for it.
At this point, I think it's high time we admit that the process of thinking about what exactly to eat, most especially when you're on a budget, is a very very hard thing to do. It can be even harder than the preparation itself. I'm someone that loves eating whenever I feel hungry and that is usually a minimum of three times a day except on rare occasions. I can't eat a particular meal more than twice in a day. I wouldn't enjoy it the third time. This leaves me thinking about nothing less than two meals in a day.
You might be wondering why I'm talking about planning my breakfast, lunch and dinner, in one sitting. I learnt it from my mom. That's how she always does things. She would plan our breakfast, lunch and dinner a day before. Then, if she had the time in the morning, she'll prepare those that aren't already prepared and store them in flasks. Made it easier for her and for us. We didn't really have to go through the waiting process of cooking everytime we wanted to eat.
Although, I plan my three different meals in the morning of that day, or a day too, I'm not the kind that cooks and stores the food for when I'm hungry. I'm the type that even when I already know what I want to eat, and all the ingredients are available, I'll still wait till the hunger becomes severe to the extent that I feel one side of my head pounding. Don't blame me please. My bed and phone deserve the blame, lol.
So, my eating habit isn't so unique. I eat mostly when I'm hungry. I eat whatever is available. Quality or quality? Both. As long as I'm sated, I'm good to go.
This is my response to the Sci-fi Multiverse prompt for the week
