I'm home!
After almost 3 weeks on the road, I finally arrived home this afternoon. I was greeted by not only my wife and kids, but also my nephew and my mom too. You'd think the president showed up, for the entourage that was at my work when I rolled up in the truck. But it was awesome to see everyone!
As soon as we gave each other hugs and welcome 'backs', my wife decided what we would be doing this evening....
Family BBQ!
Now even though I had been driving for 8 hours already this day, I was so pumped up to get cooking. I'm not the greatest BBQ chef in the world, but I really do enjoy the time in the back yard spent with family. And if they enoy the food I'm grilling, even better!
My wife drove us to the grocery store and picked up a bunch of food, some salads and vegetables for the evening dinner. And that picture above is what we had for dinner...
The kids had to have hot dogs, of course, so we each got a nice BBQ'd hot dog!
But the star of the show for me, was the home made jerk chicken that my wife seasoned up quickly. And I know, I know...We should let that stuff sit and marinate but hey...I was hungry :) It was perfect. And I have to tip my own cap as well, it was cooked to perfection. My wife even complimented me LOL
And then we topped it off with some grilled corn on the cob, grilled peppers, potato salad and coleslaw.
I was eating dinner tonight, and even though we have been struggling recently, my wife made sure my welcome home dinner was...Perfect.
It truly was...Comfort.
Not only the ability to spend that time with my family after so many weeks on the road, but also some of my favorite food on planet earth.
I'm a jerk chicken fanatic :)
This truly was the perfect evening home with my family. A great dinner, great company and of course, my family all around. It's moments like this that I appreciate everything that much more.
Little things matter!
