Yesterday morning I went out to open the brooder door for the chicks who were lazing under the heat lamp but they had been pecking around the food tray so that was good to see. It will likely take them days to finish what's in the tray now.
I got the rest of my gear ready for today. This was my Grandfather's ocean reel that he had fished the SF Bay back in the 60s.
I have kept the reel tucked away for years and it still has 20lb test line on it. I pulled on the line and it is still quite strong.
The solar panel got a new end so I can run 12 volt stuff off it and hopefully have a good charge capability.
I had to head to an appointment in the valley and this was the view of the fields as I turned to head south.
I had been seeing on the doppler all morning the incoming storms and boy did they hit hard.
It had just dumped a bit when I got home but then the next 3 hours was some serious rain and some lightning and thunder.
It was straight deluging us with some HUGE drops that fell, it sounded like hail but it was just massive water drops hitting the metal roof of the house.
It began to hail as the center of one cell came over. It was interesting as the cells would move over us and slow down some as the edge bumped against Mt Spokane. This gave the other cells behind a chance to merge so that it would lessen the rain for a short time then boom, another cell would dump rain.
While it dumped I decided to make myself a travel set of runes. They take up essentially zero space compared to my regular set.
And it trounced us again with rain.
It continued to dump so I got a bit of time at the board. My groupings are getting so much better now and I nearly pulled off the 150 but was just low on the last dart.
By 4:30pm the storms had moved on and we had .53" of rain from just the few hours.
There was still bit floating around but the rest of the cells seemed to go south of the farm so we were spared for the evening.
Since I will be gone the next days I got a fire going in the pit to grill for dinner.
A few cabbage had to get picked so they don't get too big and split. 7.5 pounds total.
Cabbages, garlic scapes, and leeks on the Blackstone,
to go with our steaks.
We were out to soak on time and I was nearly able to handle the hour.
Today I am going to drive to Lincoln, meet up with Art, get the boat int he water, then sail to White Rock where we will hopefully be putting up a route. I really hope I have cell service on the river.
