Harvests, Olympics, Waters, All The Garlic Is In, More Ordered - Sunday

in Homesteading9 months ago

Largest summer squash haul so far yesterday morning at 8 pounds. Even the single row is putting out more than we can eat, I'm glad I didn't grow any more.

The cucumbers had just a few but the later plants are getting bigger and should be starting to flower soon so the volume will likely increase in a couple weeks.

Watched the US destroy Serbia in basketball. Kinda hard for them NOT to win with KD, Curry, and Lebron all playing together...

The waters all had to get filled for the sheep and birds. I've got all the tubs set out and filled and also the alpaca's wading pool which she plopped into right away.

The bulk of my day was taken up with the garlic. I hauled the bundles to the deck and spent a bunch of time cutting and cleaning them.

The Uzbekistan garlic did really well and gave me 5.25 pounds from one pound planted.

Then the Northern White garlic gave me 3.5 pounds from a half pound planted.

Then the Inchelium garlic didn't grow quite as well as the others and only gave me 1.75 pounds. I have to keep a pound of each to stratify and then plant.

I have a pound of Transylvanian garlic ordered already and I went and ordered another 3 types. This will give me 3 hard neck and 3 soft neck varieties so w3e will have a bunch for storing. This time next year I should have about 650 heads of garlic harvested.

We were out to soak normal time and I was out by 9 so I could get the birds in. Something borked with the coop opener again so I have to dink with it today.

Today I have to get more potatoes planted, work on the coop door, dig potatoes, get any harvests done, maybe get a fly or two tied, then come up with dinner this evening.
