None too happy about another turkey getting eaten yesterday morning. Stupid birds perched outside and didn't go in the coop...
A light amount of squash came out of the garden first and went to the cooler.
The rest of the red potatoes needed to be sorted since they were largely dried after sitting overnight.
It was cabbage harvesting time again and I went up the Katrina row which are a smaller type. I had to take a lot of them since the worms are eating on them so to save what I could I took them small.
It was a nice bag of heads that I took to the scale to weigh before putting them in the cooler.
It was exactly 10 pounds. A few extra leaves either side would have made it not exact. Couldn't have done it if I tried.
Then it was the Charmant cabbage which is a bigger head on some but I had to take them smaller as well. In all I got 23.75 pounds of cabbage.
The sweet basil has been doing well and to preempt the flowering I took the tops of all the plants.
I got 1.75 pounds which I set in the cooler until @stryeyz grabbed the bag and divvied the leaves out to the dehydrator trays which ran overnight.
I had the Olympics opening ceremony on during the day and HOLY SHIT was there SO MUCH overly dramatic dreck. I guess it's a French thing...
The potatoes must be sorted so I have various boxes for the various sizes. I will need to sort the stack of boxes of the reds to get the giant ones unmixed with the small to mediums.
I had planted 50 spots in my old cool garden area but there was no grain added so it was a utterly dismal harvest that totally wonks my average. As I was digging I found a couple of these nifty funnel fungus. Each a couple inches tall and nearly that across the mouth. I have zero clue what it is after just rummaging through my fungus id books.
Truly pathetic 5.75 pounds from the 50 spots, and all small ones too.
This area is going to end up getting reclaimed as yard most likely. The chives will be getting moved to the rows by the greenhouse after the potatoes are harvested later this year.
I was so close to the triple bull, it was right there...
While everyone was in town I got the trailer hooked up for the grain run I have done this morning.
Then I drug all the kayaks out and got everything ready for our venture up to the lake today.
We watched Jurassic Park and J was kinda bitching about the continuity errors which made me laugh. Like where the t-rex breaks through the wires then the car goes over the edge... How did the t-rex get to the top of the wall to break the wires? But then another movie where Goldblum plays Goldblum.
Out to soak for a while but I had to make sure to be out to deal with the birds.
I set out the live trap with the turkey remnants in it then the snap traps at the entrance and the side. Nothing this morning.
I've been to town for grain already and emptied it into the sheep pen this morning and have harvests to get to early. Mid day we are going up to the lake to kayak and fish with our friends from up north. I need to rake out the rows I have dug potatoes out of so we can get more in the ground for a late harvest.
